Question about curtains / drapes...

We are trying to figure out window coverings for all the new windows in our house. I like the long drapes, but we have baseboard heat under every window and DH won't let the drapes go to the floor because they'll cover the baseboard and the heat will stay trapped between the drape and the wall/window. Do I hem them so they're higher than the baseboards or would that look strange? I don't really want the shorter curtains since they're bedrooms. What did everyone else do? Thanks

I have baseboards under several of my windows and we just have the drapes pulled to either side of the window so it doesn't trap too much in there. There's really not much of a way around it.

If you're going to hem them, I'd do it to the height of the window sill. I think it might look out of place if they were hemmed right above the baseboard.

Thanks. I was thinking they would look odd over the baseboard too. Maybe I'll just have to talk DH into covering the baseboards.
