Dumb question about hanging curtains
I have vertical blinds in my den which I absolutely detest. I've already taken them off one window and have hung curtains, but I do need the valance and pull down shades to make it look finished (it's three regular windows all together which makes it look like a large bay window). When I hang the valance, do I need another curtain rod screwed into the wall above the already existing curtain rod?
I'm completely clueless when it comes to decorating and am so envious of all of you have beautifully decorated homes!
TIA

Re: Dumb question about hanging curtains
you don't have to have a valance, they are purely decorative and its up to you if you like the look. If you do choose to get one, then yes you need a separate rod to put the valance on. It doesn't need to be a decorative one though because the valance will cover the whole rod, unless you get the kind with the tab top. And get a rod that curves on the ends- meaning it touchese the wall, so your valance goes all the way around.

They make curtain rods with 2 or 3 rods together - so you don't have to screw separate rods into your wall.

Re: Dumb question about hanging curtains
Thanks!
I know the valance is purley decorative, but the window just doesn't look right right now without it. I think the valance will "finish" the look. I have the rounded edge ones over my kitchen sink, so I'll try those.

I already have the curtain up with a new decorative curtain rod, it was a total PIA to put up to begin with, because the walls are wood paneling so I don't want to futz around with it again. Thanks!
