QOTD
Since i've been nominated at FMOTW...here is my question...
What are your plans re work after you have a baby? Will you quit and become a SAHM? Work part-time? And if you are alredy a SAHM..do you enjoy it? And if you are a working mom, will you continue to work after another baby? Do you like it?
I currently work part-time, and for me its a good balance, the only problem is that sometimes i feel guilty that my mom is watching my son so much...Sometimes i feel like its too much for her, and she'd rather just be a grandma, and not a babysitter.

Re: QOTD
I work full time right now, I would love to either work from home (which would be great once I get my degree in graphic design) or if I'm stuck doing what I do now I'd like to work part time. Especially considering the commute I have

Re: QOTD
The plan is for me to go back to work afterwards.. I had entertained the thought of being a SAHM, but it quickly dissolved when I worked out the numbers I need all the moola I can get!

Re: QOTD
I'd try to work part time, DH doesn't have a high paying job currently. I work part time now, and since I see the financial balance, it's doable. Plus, I can work extra hours or from home if I needed too.
My mom lives around the corner from my job so it wouldn't be so bad if I left for lunch, she'd watch them and I think she'd enjoy it.

i would have to switch to part time...full time now is hard enough with 1 child. I can't imagine with two.

Re: QOTD
if we can swing me being part tim, at least for a year, that would be ideal. I would like to work, just not so much. Otherwise, luckily we have MIL who can watch the kid.

Re: QOTD
After the first i would want to continue working full time I think, and then move to part time when we hopefully have more LO's...thats our idea for now, but maybe by then things will change.

Re: QOTD
I am a SAHM mom now and I love being home with my daughter.
I did however just have to clean puke out of her crib, after she wouldn't nap, then drive around for a half hour to get her to actually fall asleep, transfer her back to her crib, throw in a wash of her pukey sheets while I try to scarf down lunch and catch up on the internet and emails for my own sanity all before she wakes up. But when she wakes up and says Mama, Mama and snuggles with me, it will all be worth it.
All in a day's work!

Re: QOTD
As of right now, we are hoping that I can be a SAHM, not sure yet. We are planning to have at least the first 2 kids pretty much back to back (I want 4, DH says 3) since we are in our early / mid 30's. If all goes according to plan....and yes I know, the best way to break a life plan is to make one.....
Have DC #1 and I work 2 days at home / 3 days @ the office. DH works from home a few days a week so we will work at home opposite one another.
With DC #2, I will be a SAHM for the 1st year and then find a part time job till the rest of the kiddies come along. By then, my business will have taken off and I will be a multi millionaire.
Yes.....we will see if it will ever be THAT easy!

Re: QOTD
I am a FTWM in NYC now with DD. When #2 comes along, I would like to, a minimum, work back on LI or do p/t on LI. With only DH's salary, I wouldn't not work at all, but I can't stand being away from my family for such long days.

Re: QOTD
I am planning to continue working after we have a little one, although I may work on a part-time basis, or maybe even try to do some work at home. DH also has the ability to work from home and has some flexibility with his job whereas I don't have much flexibility at all with my current job, so he is going to be able to help out a lot.

Re: QOTD
I worked FT before DD and after DD was born. I only cut down fully the month I was due with her.
Not sure what will happen when I become with DC #2
My MIL watches DD for DH and I so if she can't watch both, I don't know if I could afford to quit my job.

Re: QOTD
Im not going to be a SAHM. I will go back to work full time. Im really just not wired inside to be a SAHM. My mom was one and I loved it but I know it would not be good for me mentally....on the otherhand DH would make a great SAHD and we are thinking about it. I have the insurance and make more money and DH has a few side projects that if he was home he could probably make enough doign them as he was makign at work.

Re: QOTD
FT. I'm taking 3 months off which we really can't afford but I feel better. After that it will be daycare not too happy with that but we don't have anyone to watch the little one 12 hrs a day. We are going to have to figure out schedules though bc I work in the city and dh works during the day and is in school at night.

Re: QOTD
I really want to be a SAHM, it's what I've always dreamed of doing! DH is hesitant for many reasons. I make more than him, we have two grandmothers that have offered to watch our LOs, and we'd eventually like to move to a better house. All that being said, I think he realizes how strongly I feel and is on board. I definitely may have to take on some tutoring and we may have to stay in our house longer than planned but to me it's worth it.

Re: QOTD
I wish I could be a SAHM for a few years but I don't think we would be able to pull it off. I carry the medical insurance for us so I will have to go back unless something changes with my husbands career.
