Pull and Pray Method...have ???
This will be my first month of the pill in 6-7 years....I do not want to TTC until after the summer....and we just aren't the condom using type of couple....SOOOOOOOOO....should i buy the ovulation kit so i know when NOT to have sex....since i am sure my cycles are going to be messed up for a while??!!?
Dont know what to do.....

you should start charting and temping for birth control purposes in addition to the ovulation kits. Also check your cervix and CM.
Read up on it before you go without.

Dont know what to do.....
I asked this same question the other day. I think the only way to be safe is use condoms for the next few months as much as I hate to say it.
Glad I am not the only one in this boat!

I suppose the O kit COULD help- except all those kits do is predict when you MIGHT ovulate. You might get a + on a test, and then have a delayed O (which has happend to me a few times)- which might result in you having sex during a fertile period.
If you truly are not ready to get pregnant- don't pull and pray. Either suck it up and use condoms or stay on the pill. Have you thought about using another barrier method like a diaphragm?

I agree about charting. Check out the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". You can use the Fertility Awareness Method as birth control & as a way to learn about your cycle at the same time.
As far as OPKs, you can get them if you want to learn to use them & learn about your cycles, but they are not a method of birth control. They predict you will ovulate within 24-36 hours (for me & many others, it's much closer to the 24 hours) & since sperm can live around 3-5 days in a fertile environment, you could get pregnant from sex that occurred before the OPK turned positive.

Well...the reason i want to wait to start TTCing is because i've been on the pill for so long i sort of want my body to readjust and for other pure selfish reasons....if i do get pregnant before....i'll be extremely happy as well. Thanks for the book recommendation....I am ordering right now....I definitely need help! I read everything you girls post about and i am CLUELESS!

This has totally freaked me out as well....especially since when i was young and stupid i practice the pull and pray method a couple of times with my now DH in COLLEGE! What the hell was wrong with me....and how lucky was i!?!?!?!

honestly we have been using the pull n pray method for over a year with success and I don't chart or withhold during ovulation times...but it is different for everyone and I know people who have gotten pregnant the first month using this method so I def recommend keeping track of when you are ovualting. my DH and i used the P&P method for almost 3 years with not even one single scare...my cycles are pretty regular, but i wasn't even paying attention to when i would ovulate. it was pull out all the time, even if i was supposed to be 2 days away from getting AF. the problem is, he has to be reeeeally careful and make sure he doesn't stay in there a second too long. my DH was good at that, but some guys aren't and that's where you can get in to trouble...good luck!

DH and I have used the P&P method for years. Lately he hasn't been able to feel when he is coming so he has shot inside me. Then we play the waiting game. We've been lucky but one of these days it may run out. We're hoping to TTC next summer. This year would be too soon.

I am in the same boat as well. We will be using condoms for the next few months. I also got a fertility monitor too.
I also just started reading the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book.

we've been pulling and praying for 10 yrs now and the only time we didnt pulll we got preggo. We still have sex at ovuatlion time and we just always make sure to pull it has always been fine for us.

We were P&P before we started to TTC and never had any scares. We would also competely back off of sex or use BC during danger weeks, not days.

Okay so I was CD8 yesterday and I couldn't get up the gusto to PNP. We used a condom instead. Hadn't used one in so long but now I remember why we don't

I figured i should be off of it a while before i TTC so i can get my cycle on track, which will help in the TTC process...this has been my second day off and i feel naked not taking them...they were part of my morning routine....but i finally bought my Flinstone Chewables and folic acid pills today....and will start taking those tomorrow.

Well AF has officially left today and I am so nervous about having "the sex" (hehe). BUT PNP method seems to be working for alot of the people who responded....sooooooo thats going to be my method of choice for the next couple of months.
