public bathrooms and newly potty trained
Did you buy a fold up seat for your dc?
DD is potty trained! but public bathrooms are tough. I bought the disposable seat liners and try to hold her up but she isn't fully comfortable unless she is sitting.
I have a travel potty in my van and we use that often but what do you do when you are out. I am so grossed out sometimes

Re: public bathrooms and newly potty trained
Honestly I just let them pee I have a potty in my truck that I always have him go in before each and every time we get out of the truck to prevent bathroom trips. I like to avoid the bathroom mainly because its a circus with 3 kids If there is an occasion he has to use a Public bathroom I just TP the seat and let him pee (he still sits) I know bathrooms are gross but so are many other things they touch through out the day.
PS YAY for DD

If she absolutely had to use a public restroom I used the disposable covers and would hold her on the seat. And I would repeat non stop " don't touch anything, don't touch anything!" lol I did have the travel seat in trunk. I would have her try to go potty before we left the house and would ask again when we arrived at our destination.

Re: public bathrooms and newly potty trained
Disposable cover still with toilet paper. I always make sure he goes before we leave the house, but things happen. Now especially with summer we are out much longer running errands, the shore, theme parks, etc. He's gotta go I just use a lot of the tp and tell him not to touch anything. He knows by now and then washes his hands. I always have purell and wipes in my bag to use after if there's no soap or the bathroom is just that gross. Oh, and we only go to the Nordstrom bathroom when at the mall. Lol

Lol! We've gone in so many bathrooms! Clean and gross. I used the portable seats twice. Now, I don't bother! If a bathroom is really gross, I hold DS up and tell him to pee.

Ok sounds like the fold up seat is a waste.. Ill stick to the liners and hopefully as she is trained longer she will be more consistent in using the seat in the car before we go into somewhere.

Re: public bathrooms and newly potty trained
DS just potty trained a few days ago. He uses a regular toilet (with no potty seat). That's they way I trained him so he has no problem using public toilets. He is 27 months. We did they same thing with his sisters, they trained at 25 months and 27 months and had no problems using public toilets.

I use the fold up seats When I try to tp the seat it just falls off, and I hate being crouched over holding them especially when I have two and I have to keep my eyes on the other one who is of course trying to touch everything

Re: public bathrooms and newly potty trained
I had to get over my fear of nasty bathrooms. I go in the handicapped stall w/ all 3. I just say, "don't touch anything" over and over. I put toilet paper on the seat and just cringe when they hold onto the sides. There's only so much I can do bc the baby won't sit in the shopping cart so I have to hold him while watching the twins pee. Not fun!

I always lined the toilet with TP but also keep a travel bottle of hand santizing spray to spray the toilet seat if you need to and also a bottle of purell for hands and in a pinch the seat. It wouldn't be so nasty if people would stop leaving their pee on the seats, it's so gross. Nothing sucks worse than having to clean someone elses pee off the toilet before you use it. I NEVER leave pee on the seat of a toilet. I just don't understand how people can be so disgusting. Like I don't have enough to deal with with my toddlers I also have to clean YOUR PEE. I just hate that.

the fold up potty seat I have is a waste b/c it never fits on the toilets and dd has fallen in many times. She has mastered how to sit and hold her self and shirt up haha. Honestly she touches the seat, which is disgusting and gross but we wash hands right after. I honestly think dd gets a kick out of using public restrooms b/c whereever we are she has to go even if she went before we left. It makes me crazy. If there is a family room or big handicap available I use those

I use the fold up seat and then after we wash hands I use hand sanitizer.
I wash the disposable seat when we get home.

OK after driving down to FL I am a pro! LOL
Once we get in the potty, DD knows "hands on your head" I line the seat well with TP, she sits and I hold her up. When she is done, we never use the sinks, only antibacterial so that is one less thing she has to touch

Re: public bathrooms and newly potty trained
I have the fold up seat. it doesnt fit perfect, so i kinda have to hold the seat in place so DD doesnt fall, but i dont have anotoher DC to keep on eye on.
I also bought the disposable seat covers. they are big enough to cover the seat so if DD puts her hands down, she's not actually touching the seat.

I tried the fold up seat and hated it. It didn't fit right and he would slide around on it. I got the disposable covers that stick to the seat until he was older.

Re: public bathrooms and newly potty trained
i bought the fold up seat... but not really for public bathrooms. Its more because both of our parents live hours away, so when we visit them, we usually stay over night, or for a couple nights. so the fold up seat is easy to pack to take with us, so my parents and in laws don't have to keep a potty seat at their house. it works well for that.
as far as public bathrooms, i just kind of cringe and get through it... and make sure i wash his hands REALLY well after we're done.

Re: public bathrooms and newly potty trained
I do have the fold up seat, I bring it on occasion, but sometimes its just more of a PITA to bring in and out with me that I just use TP on the potty and sit my DD's on it.

I let them sit and do what they have to do. If there is anything gross in or on the toilet I choose another stall.
