Re: Proactive

I find it works for short periods of time. Like if I haven't used it in several months and then use it, it's great for a while. Then goes back to not working.

This!! The Acne.org treatment is sooooo much better. You can wear it under your makeup perfectly and it works!!

Yeah, save your money.

I also feel like they put you on automatic billing and then keep sending way more than you will ever need and use.

Proactive

I've had really bad acne as an adult and went to the dermatologist for a prescription medication that works great. Plus, my insurance covered it which helped out a lot.

Re: Proactive

I used it years ago and it worked very well. As I got older though I found it to be very drying. A few years ago I switched to Murad and it's amazing. I find it works much better than Proactive, perhaps because Proactive is only suitable for very young and very oily skin.

Re: Proactive

I used it and it was a miracle worker for me. I have heard that it does not work as well once you are in your 30s. I used it almost 10 years ago.

Re: Proactive

If you read teh ingrediants, it's the exact same ish they sell in the drugstores under Clerasil, Neutrogena, Oxyclean etc, etc.
I don't see what makes it so different

I think it's a prescription antibiotic pill
I took minocycline years ago- sounds like the same class of drug.
It really did work wonders for my cystic acne.

Re: Proactive

I just went to the derm today and got a cortisone shot in my cystic pimple. She also prescribed doxycycline. I've never used it before so I'm nervous.

To answer the op question, I use proactive now but only at night. It dries out my skin. I've been using it a lot though because I have one cystic pimple that came out of nowhere. When I first started using it, it worked though.

Re: Proactive

I used it ages ago and it did nothing to actually help. It only made my skin extremely dry and painful. The peeling was horrendous!

I haven't used it in over 10 years though, so the formula may have changed since then.
