My skin is really bad and my doctor wasn't even sure what it was. He said to refer to the bottle/website. The website says consult your doctor. ARGHChat Icon

Thanks!

I wouldn't. I was on over the counter acne medicine and it said right on it to stop if PG or BF.

I would ask your Dr. before continuing.

I would ask another doctor. I think I remember hearing that it is not okay.

Thanks Melissa. Accutane is a Rx pill (I took it years ago and it worked miracles) and proactive is a 3 step system (cleanser, toner and lotion) so I'm not sure they have the same effects.

How far into the pregnancy are you? I know that my face got really good during the pregnancy. I usually just get a few breakouts during my time of the month but I didn't have any during the pregnancy. Maybe the pregnancy will help?

ProActive is NOT the same as Accutane.

My OB gave me the ok for ProActive (Benzoyl
Peroxide is the main ingredient for their products) and I know a number of other girls online that used it and had no problems with their children.

I discontinued using ProActive b/c I found it was making my skin worse.

Funny I was just asking my coworker about this and she said her sister used it throughout her PG and was fine. I am preparing incase of that PG acne I hear so much about.

Because some facial products, lotions, etc. contain ingredients like Retinol which after continued use can be absorbed into the bloodstream and potentially cause birth defects, etc..

ProActive uses Benzoyl Peroxide, but a relatively low concentration.

ETA: some OBs will recommend that you don't use it b/c we don't exactly know the effects on the human fetus.

My OB gave me the ok to use benzoyl peroxide and salcydic acid during pregancy. I waited until the 2nd tri and use very little...spot treatments here and there on a daily basis.

Re: Is it ok to use proactive while pregnant?

Proactiv is benzyol peroxide, ok to use during the pg. I have been using mine every day since my 2nd trimester began.

I don't use all the steps though, it dries my face out too much. I only use the last step and my face is clear as a button.

TO each is own though...

i used to use it also and had to stop because it made me worse. You develop a tolerance for it after a while.
