I had to change mine once on liweddings, I was stalked by a vendor! and tracked down, long story short, I am very careful what I post for this reason.

I think it's just like what you can do here, with any piece of text you quote - I can go up and edit your post that I quoted above and change spelling, etc.
Anybody can do that, its not that 'the powers that be' are changing your original FM that you sent to someone.

I rememeber taht. quite a few posters were up in arms about that.there are literally 1000's of FM's and there is no way one or 2 people could go through them.
but it sucks when you can't vent on here.

I don't really care one way or another who reads what I say. However, even though this a public chat, when you are presented with a forum that implies that it is private, there is a certain expectation that it will be. It doesn't matter if it's "the powers that be" or any one else. One person is one person too many.

I dun't really kair won way or another who reads what I sez. However, even though this a publik chat, when you are presented with a forum that implies that it is privite, there is a certain expectation that it will b. No, it wasn't anyone outside your covo, it was the person quoting. The only thing I think that happens is that it automatically ******s out the bad words

Sorry but Ron never said that. The only time an FM would be looked up is if there were a legal or potential legal issue that had to be addresses.
Besides the only one that can do this is the database programmer and he is way to busy to get involved with non sense.

That is the action of the quoter, not of anyone else.

There was no conceivable reason for them to edit what I was saying. So, unless there is software in place that automatically edits posts for words that are deemed unsuitable, then someone else had to do the editing. Someone else took the time to follow what was being said because it was more than one FM and it was to more than one poster. By the way, the thread that started it was pulled. As I stated, I don't really care if anyone reads these FMs, but, a level of privacy is expected.
As for the poster who took what I wrote before and edited the spelling, your point is ludicrous. Everyone knows you can edit anything on the boards or even in FMs when you quote. My point was that if I didn't edit it and the other person who I was corresponding with didn't edit it, then who did?

Just to once again state fact. No one reads FMs nor is there any software in place to intercept, change or anything otherwise. FMs are a private communication between the parties communicating. The only way to change an FM is for the poster (either the original poster or the one replying) to make any changes to the message. The only thing we can think of is someone used the spellcheck and clicked replace without paying attention to what the word being changed to actually was.
