it's all relative... what if you worked 2nd or 3rd shift? than obviously you are not sleeping late if you sleep until noon.
what if you get up at 7am and take a nap?
I think hubby is being narrow minded
This was my thought- my mom used to work nights so she'd get home at 7 am and sleep into the early afternoon.
As long as you're not shirking your responsibilities, who cares? I am on vacation and I stayed in bed Monday till 11:30. I was wiped out and fortunately my DH had taken my DD out.

There is nothing immature about being well-rested! I would say that sleeping a short amount of time and then being cranky all day would make you more like a teenager!

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
i went to bed at 5:00 a.m last night and slept until 2 pm today. Why? because i can i'm an adult and if i choose to spend my time that way, then that's my perogative. i need 7-8 hours of sleep to feel rested, so if i go to bed that late then it stands to reason that i'd get up late as well Today was a day for doing nothing, and i took full advantage of that!
sorry your dh said that to you - maybe he was grumpy from lack of sleep

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
in your situation, no i absolutely dont consider that immature, you were up late on a weekend. Although I went to bed at 3am and was up at 9am. but that is just me and I wasnt drinking lol.
But i will say that i consider my brother and sister (who are 22 and 25) immature or maybe extrememly lazy because they do this all the time even when giong to bed at a resonable hour.
they waste half the day away and it drives me nuts esp because people have to wait for them to get up. I went over to tell tem i was pregnant and had to convince my brother to get out of bed so i could tell everyone all at once. it was 1:30 in the afternoon
DH and I are up typically the latest 730 on the weekends, and wont go to bed til 11-12 at night. we are both up around 530 on weekdays for work

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I love sleeping late. As long as you are not skipping work or an important obligation, who cares? It is not teenage and immature. Just because we are adults, we no longer need sleep if we stay out late one night?

I dont really know why it has to be considered anything. If you need sleep, you need to sleep. I took a nap today...I guess that would make me a baby.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
If I sleep past 7, I am sleeping 'late'. That's for ME because I don't sleep all that much.
I don't think immaturity has anything to do with it - but generally speaking those people who have the luxury of sleeping late seem to have less things that they are responsible for. That is not meant to be an insult at all - merely an observation. It's hard to sleep until noon if you have to get up for work, if you have a house that you know won't start running until you get up and start working it, if you have kids who need you to make breakfast or whatever.
But regardless - the occasional sleep in doesn't make me think anyone is immature. My husband NAPS in the middle of the day - every day. He might not sleep in but he catches a couple of hours mid afternoon. Does that make him a kindergartner??

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I don't think it's immature. Especially if it's just every once in a while.
I love if I actually sleep late - normally I'm up no later than 7, even on the weekend.
ETA: For me, since I wake up at 5:45 during the week, 'sleeping late' is like 9:00. Sleeping really late to me is 11:00.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
My DH is an early riser and it took him a while (a while = years) to understand that I am not and never will be an early riser myself. It doesn't make me immature.
He gets up early with DD on weekends and I stay in bed late.... until 7:30 or so.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
Well I did sleep late always prior to having DD. Now that I do most if not all of the care for her, I just cannot sleep late.
But if i could, damn straight I would once in a while and let DH care for her.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
When I was in college, I would sleep till 2 pm on the weekends! If I did that now I would be so upset that I slept away the day.
I can't sleep late anymore, I am up by 730 on the weekends. However, this past vacation I could easily sleep all day!

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I don't think it's immature, but I was raised in a house where it was very frowned upon. Even in hs every weekend morning, my dad would come in my room and tell me I'm wasting the day, if I wasn't up before 10. He loved to say that "wasting the day".

1.What do you consider "sleeping late?" For me right now with kids, 8am-lol!!
2. Do you find the practice of sleeping late "immature?" NO!!
My kids get up about 6am everyday--
This is one of my biggest fears about having kids...lol I need to sleep late!
They are not little either, 6 and 11--
