Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
1.What do you consider "sleeping late?"
2. Do you find the practice of sleeping late "immature?"
I ask because i stayed up till 3:30 last night--wasn't drunk at all, just hanging out and then today my husband said that I acted like a "teenager" because I slept until noon.
I say you sleep 8 hours from the time you go to bed, unless you have to get up for work or something else.
Anyone else?

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
It's all relative. Before I had DS, I used to sleep 8-9 hours to feel I was rested. Now I don't get nearly enough and I wish I could. It helps me feel better and not be a short beotchy person.
Some people think than anything more than 6 hours is too much. Yet, they only stay up all night to watch late TV shows.
I think it's not anyone's business, as long as it does not impaire with family responsibilities. But everyone's need of sleep is different.
I do take naps sometimes when DS takes a nap. I don't feel guilty whatsoever.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I love to get 7-8 hours a night. I don't stay up that late usually, so I am up by 9 most days.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
Really? It's a holiday
I can't sleep as late as I used to be able too but I see nothing wrong with it...esp on a holiday or weekend!
And for the record I had practice most weekends as a teenager and never slept past 7am...I would say sleeping late starts in college;)

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I don't think it has anything to do with maturity or immaturity, just preference and the ability to do it. We don't have kids and I LOVE sleeping in! I know it's something I'd have to give up if little ones ever come.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I've been sleeping from 2am to 10 am & I hate it. It does make me feel immature, because I feel unproductive.
I told DH that I have reverted to my college habits, but its is worse, b/c in college, during the week, I was at least productive from 10pm to 2 am ( that's when I wrote papers, after my roommate went to sleep & I'd be on time for 11:30 classes.)
Now, I am not productive during those hours, and then get up too late to take advantage of the morning.
For one day, I wouldn't be bothered about it. For me, I did it on Christmas Eve because we were at MIL's until 11 & then I had to wrap presents & now can't break the habit, since I've been on vacation.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
it's all relative... what if you worked 2nd or 3rd shift? than obviously you are not sleeping late if you sleep until noon.
what if you get up at 7am and take a nap?
I think hubby is being narrow minded

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
Some people are morning people, others need to sleep late. I am a night person so on the weekends I get to bed very late and sleep late. I don't see anything immature about it.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
DH and I stayed in bed til 2, he went to the office for a couple hours to finish up some work
I went back to sleep and when he got back around 4ish I was still in bed, and he came back and layed down with me
If you were tired, you have every right to sleep late, did you have plans today? maybe thats why he said that

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
another vote for it being relative.
yes, teenagers tend to sleep later than adults, but an adult who sleeps in after new years eve is not a person who is immature.
tell dh to relax and take a nap

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I actually associate sleeping late with my early 20's more than my teen years. When I was on my own, I could make my own hours. As a teenager, God forbid I sleep late, my Mother always had something for me to do.
I don't get the immature reference, if you are not shirking a responsibility of any kind, what's the diff? I'm a night owl so I've seen 3:30am many times without an ounce of alcohol or partying involved.
I would love to sleep till noon!! My kids are still small so it's not happening anytime soon but I can aspire to someday do it again. I dream big!

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I am a morning person so I rarely sleep late. (DH said we slept late today - 8:30am!)With that said, I do not think people who sleep late are immature as long as they get done what they need to get done.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
before DS , I would wake between 10-11 (sleep by 1AM) so that's 9-10 hours a night. now He wakes by 730 which I can't stand!!!! I take naps when he does I don't feel guilty at all, I love sleep! and I will ignore chores till after my nap. Not immature at all! I don't get people who wake at 730 AM to do laundry or clean, do it later

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
My MIL called the house this morning at 11am, I thought that was totally inconsiderate since she knows we had a party last night! She seemed shocked that I had just gotten out of bed 2 minutes earlier. Uhm, my guests left at 2am, I got to bed around 3am. Even DD slept till 11am! As long as you get done what needs to be done, then it's totally fine in my opinion!

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
HA! I love sleep. Whenever I get a chance to sleep in or just take a nap or even just lay down I take it. I don't care - I work hard, life is too short and I love sleep too much. It is not like you are sleeping instead of going to work or taking care of your responsibilities. DH and I actually enjoyed a nice late morning today - it is a treat for us and not something we get to do often.

Re: Poll: Sleeping "Late" and Immaturity
I wake up at 5:30AM Mon-Fri to get to work before 7AM. On the weekends, I can sleep 14-16hrs! I still get ALL of my housework and errands done -- I can sleep that long because I obviously need it.
I don't see how that would make me immature or irresponsible. I have NEVER woken up late for work.
