Playdate etiquette
My little sister started watching my son on Fridays and we have a couple of regular playdates set up for that day. I don't want to send them there empty handed. Should I send juice boxes? I was thinking even some fruit...
I've had playdates with my neighbors in the past and they're just overly generous and everytime we go there they end up calling my husband and they cook up a feast and we party as the kids play. I always bring them a bottle of wine.
Any suggestions? What do you do?

Re: Playdate etiquette
I usually don't take anything to a playdate and people don't bring anything to our place if we are hosting.
It's a little different when it's more like a meal type thing. Like we had a family over for dinner last week. They brought dessert.

Re: Playdate etiquette
I'm in a weekly playgroup and nobody ever brings anything. The weeks I host, I usually have a pot of coffee brewed, but that's about it.

Re: Playdate etiquette
when i'm not super close with someone I bring something...a kid snack, fruit, etc. but with my good friends we have a policy to not bring anything...when you "host" you put something out. we usually only break this rule for our "holiday playdates" which are more party-like. then we all bring something.

Right, exactly, thats why I have no clue what the normal etiquette is. But I guess it looks like whoever is hosting provides the drinks and snacks.

I agree, the host usually provides the food/drinks. I think the proper etiquette is to offer to host the next play date this way it's not on that person to host all the time. If you can't host (space issues, allergies to pets, etc...) then offer to bring lunch for you (the moms) and a snack for the kids.
