People who don’t return their shopping carts in the parking lot. Or at least put it out of the way of other cars. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve 1. Tried to pull into a spot and there’s a cart there and I have to either get out and move it or abort mission or 2. Come out of the store to a cart behind my truck that I now have to return with mine before I leave the lot WHY. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHY?!! the last time it happened I was at target .. parked NEXT TO The cart return yet there was someone’s cart at my trunk. Couldn’t go the extra 5-7 feet ??? No. That’s ok. I got it. :
I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with this anymore. They need to do the coin return system in the US. So if I need a cart, I put in a a Euro or 50 cents. When I’m done, I get that back if I return it to the cart area. Everyone returns them.
Then again there is the supermarket race at checkout that drives me crazy. No one bags for you. You have to do it yourself and quickly or else the person behind you’s stuff get mixed up yours. That’s probably why everyone returns the carts. They want to get the hell out of there.
I honestly don’t think this would make a difference. I think they would still leave them. But, I’d love to go around my neighborhood and walk up to people and remind them that they could put that quarter toward their next pack of cigarettes or a 40 of old e.

Re: Pet peeves thread
I absolutely HATE when I pay cash and cashiers hand back the change in a giant pile of bills and coins falling off the pile of bills. Back in the day, when I was a teenager and worked as a cashier, I used to count back the change to people. But if you don't want to do that, just hand me the coins and then the bills so I'm not balancing some mountain of coins on top of bills that are falling all over the place. It's just common sense!
I cringe when people misuse the word "weary," which means tired. I find people always incorrectly substitute it for "wary" or being "leery of" something/someone. E.g., "I was weary of that white van sitting in front of the park." No, you weren't tired of it, you were suspicious of it or cautious around it. Hence, you were WARY of the van, or leery of it.
And lately, I find people just have ZERO awareness of others and taking up more than their fair share of space. For example, people who park over the lines in a crowded parking lot, effectively taking up two spaces. Happens all the time. Today, I was pulling into a gas station and someone pulled in from the opposite direction in front of me. Instead of staying at the first pump, so I could go to the one I was headed toward, she pulled all the way up, blocking me from that pump, and ignored me when I gestured "could you back up?" When I go to pick up my DS from camp, it's a crowded hallway of classrooms, and groups of people just linger there talking, smack in the middle of the hallway, oblivious to those trying to get past them on either side. I just can't!

They did have them here for a while. They took a quarter. They stopped using them because they weren't working. I don't know exactly why, but I know that we had them at a lot of stores, and now we don't...

Pet peeves thread
I have so many.
People who have parties on their front lawns when they have a backyard.
The person who parks their huge truck in the last spot at daycare so you can’t see to turn out of the lot. If you are on these boards, know that I hate you.
People who bring coolers of beer to the toddler playground. And don’t have toddlers with them.
Anyone who is rude to wait staff, hair stylists, etc.

Might be a cultural difference. It works so well here. I have never seen a shopping cart left in spaces in the car park. I’m thinking it works because we have so many $ coins. All I know is I return it because I want my money back. I’m not paying a Euro or 50 cents to use a shopping cart. It’s like this at every supermarket. One supermarket I go to even checks the number of the cart. That way if it goes missing, they can trace it back to you.
Even if you want to use the little baskets, the cashiers are very strict that you cannot carry it out to your bike or car.
They make special keychains for the carts, too. Still that costs money.

People who take up the whole aisle at the supermarket.
People who don't use their blinker until they decide to turn and make me sit there waiting for no reason when I could have turned.
Everyone hawking MLM crap on FB - I don't want your Tupperware, Pampered Chef or Kannaway!

Totally out of hand. Last week, I was nearly in a very bad accident because of this woman's complete lack of awareness. My office is on a very busy road where people are easily going 60 MPH. When I go to turn into my office, I put on my blinker several buildings away so the person behind me knows I will be slowing to turn. There are no turning lanes. Last week, the idiot in front of me pulls into my parking lot and STOPS, dead stops, in the apron to read the sign that lists all the businesses in the building. I had to dead stop on the road. I am so lucky that the middle lane was open so the guy behind me was able to go around me. Otherwise, he would have smashed me at 50 + MPH. I was honking and screaming at that lady (who I came to realize was like 100 years old and felt slightly ashamed of myself afterwards) like a crazed lunatic but she could have caused a serious accident.

No kids with them? That is so strange! I think if I saw that, I would discreetly call the police on them. I would assume they are perverts, looking for their next victim.

Re: Pet peeves thread
I have come to realize and i say all the time that the majority of people in this world think they are the ONLY one on the planet. It is all about THEM. Them, them, them
Make a mistake while driving and miss your turn? Don't inconvenience yourself by going up ahead and turning around or going to the next exit and back tracking. NO! Stop dead where you are or back up or try to cross 3 lanes of traffic. Why inconvenience yourself at all due to YOUR mistake? Nonsense! Let everyone else wait or potentially cause an accident.
In a supermarket? You own the aisle. Go ahead block it while you read every label on every soup can. Nobody else needs to get by or get to that shelf. Take your time. It's all about you, sister!
Can't find a coupon? It's fine. Hold up the a line of 20 people while you rummage for it for 10 minutes to save yourself that 50 cents. You're the only person on the planet that matters!

Class all the way here.
I think it’s unsafe to have glass beer bottles on a toddler playground regardless of location. It’s also unsafe to bring your 10 year olds to a toddler playground where there are very small children playing.
The cops aren’t trolling the playgrounds at 2 in the afternoon. No one is getting fined for anything.

No, they have kids but the kids are certainly not toddlers. More like the 8-12 range. There is a playground for older kids right next to the toddler one. I don’t know what the deal is but they congregate on the toddler playground and their kids flip around on the baby toys while they drink the day away. Maybe they need the cushioned turf for when they get too drunk to stand.

ohhh ok, that is so strange! It really pisses me off when big kids are playing on the toddler side. I actually yelled at 2 pre-teen boys once for knocking over my toddler. I warned them a bunch of times to be careful and told them they were too big to be playing on the little kid side. Their mother was right there and didn't say anything when it happened. I decided to just leave before having to go full crazy on them.

Precisely... inconsiderate drivers. The "me , me, me and only me" mentality. Every day, I'm trying to keep my children safe, and people don't give a crap. I see texting, changing lanes without signaling, passing on the right... I'd rather make 5 rights than be an asshole who tries desperately to make a left where they shouldn't. My biggest pet peeve is when people don't move up/close the gaps in a left turning lane, causing cars to just be hanging out in the middle of two lanes or dangerously trying to inch in. Move up dammit! We'll all fit.

Re: Pet peeves thread
- I work with developmentally disabled adults. There are two entrances in the back, one is maybe 50 feet away from the other. People will park in all sorts of illegal ways to be near the entrance closer to the offices. YOU WORK AT A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE ARE IN WHEELCHAIRS. APPRECIATE YOUR DAMN LEGS.
They'll park in the "No Parking" diagonal line areas (we have buses going through the parking lot, so it's important to keep that space free), they'll double park and they'll park in HANDICAP spaces. It makes me want to scream. And there are SO many spaces in the other lot by the further entrance. Lazy, lazy, lazy!
- People have no sense of distance between where they are entering a busy road and cars coming towards them. SO many times I've had to change lanes last minute because people enter the road and don't speed up quickly enough. I've even had to drive into the shoulder once to avoid slamming on my brakes.

I’ve experienced a few times lately - someone taking up two spots parking between a meter. Where are the cops THEN?
Adding to the list... people who don’t turn when they’re in a turn only lane, there’s a red light, BUT A GREEN ARROW! I once honked at a car for not turning when the arrow was green. The driver got out of his car a min later and yells at me, “There’s a red light!” .. and I didn’t say anything back because I don’t argue with crazy, especially crazy on the road- but in my head I’m like- “Right, but a minute ago there was a green arrow you idiot!!!”
Another one... when you’re in your car in a parking lot (in the spot) and the person waiting for your spot honks at you. I understand it’s frustrating if you’re waiting for the spot and the person isn’t moving but you never know what the reasoning is, and in all fairness, the spot is not yours till the person moves. It only makes me move slower. Honk at me while you’re waiting for me to move my car and you can pretty much guarantee you won’t be getting my spot.
