Can I tell you one of my MAJOR pet peeves?

Family members who CONSTANTLY talk about money!!!!

No matter where we are, what holiday, what day all my one aunt does is talk about how big their bills are. She pays for EVERYTHING for my 3 cousins. They do not have any concept of money or even know how much things in the "real world" cost. And that is her perogitive but dont claim poverty yet you are getting your house re-sided, all brick patio and driveway put in, planning on re-doing your kitchen, take the family on cruises every few years, blah blah blah.

Than she "digs" and tries to make subtle attempts to find out info. about me and DH and how much we make, how much are bills are, how much are house cost, how much are wedding cost, if our parents helped us with the wedding. She has always been competitive with me, why I dont know. For example, we were talking about my cousins who was not able to get a teaching position, she got hired as a full-time sub in an ok school district on LI. My cousins' boyfriend, who she has been with for many years, wants to be a DA on either LI or NYC. So my aunt says "well, they'll have to live where they can afford. They won't have anyone helping them." (She seems to think DH's mom bought our house ). So I said "NOONE bought our house for us. WE DID!!! I wish, but we have a big mortgage along with most other young people who choose to live here." So, she just looks at me and goes, "oh." Another one of her ways to try to find things out. I told my parents (it is my mom's sister) that the next time she pulls this $hit, which I am sure will be at Christmas (how appropriate ) I am going to put her in her spot and tell her that noone wants to hear about how big her bills are, they are big b/c she pays for everything for her kids and they can't be that bad when she is always buying things, going on vacation and doing things to her house. And i am also going to make clear, NOONE bought our house for us!!!!!

I hate people like that. And it's so frustrating because no matter what you say, they are going to think whatever they want.

Usually, when people get that nosy, I over exaggerate so they hopefully get the hint and stop asking.

"Yeah, we're managing this mortgage, but the houses in Milan and Paris are killing us! Luckily the Chateaus in Switzerland is paid for, otherwise we'd have to sell one of our yachts!"

OMG we (DH and I) were JUST talking about this last night!!! Our BIL does this! Sooo annoying...
