These are always fun. Here is mine:

When someone says “Mom or Dad” and they are not referring to their own parent. My mil does this. She will ask “what time you going by moms?” I don’t know why it bugs me, but it does.

Re: Pet peeves thread

My newest is how cashiers in Suffolk just assume you don't want a bag now because of the charge. They just ring you up and then look at you. The other day I was at CVS. I had 2 boxes of tampons, 2 boxes of pads (Don't worry...I wasn't hemorrhaging to death..it was BOGO) and about 10 other things. I wasn't even thinking about the bag. I paid and then she's just looking at me. I said "I need a bag". She says "well you didn't pay for one.". I wanted to ask her if she was as dumb as she looked but I refrained. Did she really think I was going to parade across a parking lot with my arms loaded with feminine hygiene products?

I would have thrown a nickel in her face and said "here, now I paid for one!"
I fuking hate this bag law. And it really really really accomplishes nothing in saving the planet.
You want to save the planet, ban them completely.
As long as they are around- for 5 cents, 10 cents, $1, or free, they are bad.

Grown-ass people who make so much noise while eating. Slurping, grunting, smacking lips, clicking teeth is not attractive on anyone.
And yes, that applies to the woman on the LIRR who chews her gum like a cow.
Actually cows are quiet when they eat.

I know this sounds horrible on my part but when people say god bless you at work ad nauseam. Fine if you sneeze once great. But all day long. Everyone has allergies. Do we need to say it 100x? PLEASE STOP!

Also, people who bring dogs into grocery stores and restaurants. It's gross. And I'm not talking about service dogs. (and that's another pet peeve. Why can any ole dog be certified as a service dog?) There was a woman wheeling a lapsa apsa into a restaurant in a stroller the other day. I had to hold the door open her for while she manipulated it through the doorway. Why is that necessary? I don't want to be bothered doing that with my kids, never mind a dog.

I have one better!
I stopped at the liquor store on Saturday evening to pick up some supplies for the next day.
This woman had a huge PARROT on her shoulder as she walked around shopping for booze!
At first I thought I was seeing things, then I thought it was fake and she was just nuts. But NOPE! A tremendous, gorgeous, brightly colored parrot. Just sitting on her shoulder as she shopped.
I was flabbergasted. I have never seen anything like that.
Like WHY would you bring your bird out to the liquor store?
I was nervous it would fly at me or something- it's had huge claws and I'm a little bit scared of birds and winged creatures. Chat Icon
Not to mention I know those birds are expensive. What if it flew away?
How do you even get it in and out of the car?
Does it just sit calmly on the passenger seat as you drive?
Does it panic and fly around the car?
So many questions.
So many questions.

I have no problem with dogs in restaurants. They usually sit under the tables here. The restaurants also have water dishes ready for them. They are not allowed in supermarkets, though. I usually see them tied up outside, waiting patiently for their owners.

They seem to train them so well here, but I guess it’s because you have to get special dog insurance here.

My most recent one is utensil direction in the dishwasher. Maybe I'm the only one, but POINT THE DAMN UTENSILS DOWN PLEASE! I don't feel like getting stabbed every time I am emptying the dishwasher, or if God forbid my toddler came in and grabbed them (she's attached to my hip and likes to help me). I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with this anymore. They need to do the coin return system in the US. So if I need a cart, I put in a a Euro or 50 cents. When I’m done, I get that back if I return it to the cart area. Everyone returns them.

Then again there is the supermarket race at checkout that drives me crazy. No one bags for you. You have to do it yourself and quickly or else the person behind you’s stuff get mixed up yours. That’s probably why everyone returns the carts. They want to get the hell out of there.
