Normally, I care a lot about staying in shape, eating right, and really caring about my appearance. With all its taken us to get to this point with building our family, I'm just SO THRILLED to be pregnant and for things to be going well that caring about my body is just not a priority - like - at all. It is what it is. I'm pregnant. Things will change (some maybe permanently) and that's OK!!! I just want a healthy baby from this ... the rest will fall into place afterwards.
Having said all that, it still really hurts my feelings to hear comments about my appearance. Since when is it ok to tell someone they gained weight in their face???? I was told this twice today.
I was also asked (by a friend who knows we lost a twin) if I'm sure there are not two in there. She then asked how far along I am and when I said 14wks she was shocked that I'm "showing so much" for being "only" 14wks........
Why can't people just shut up? I'm using injections everyday for the rest of my pregnancy. My belly is all shades of purple, blue, and yellow from being bruised so bad. I've given up on what my body looks like from the moment I decided to do another round of IVF. I just really wish people would be more sensitive. I'd take a fat face and big bruised belly any day. IT's a small price to pay for what I have going on inside. 
People are just dumb.

People really are dumb. I am sorry that happened to you. I can totally relate. The amount of times I am told how big I look, how much weight I have gained, how full my face is, how wide my belly is etc is disgusting. I would NEVER say any of those things to anyone--let alone a pregnant woman. You have the perfect attitude--thinking of growing a healthy baby. Stick with that and screw everyone else!

People are a$$holes, ignore them. It's not worth it, I let people's comments get to me from time to time but then have to take a step back and remember people can really be idiots sometimes. I'm sure you look great and you're glowing!

WOW. I am just blown away that someone would say that to you.
You obviously have your priorities in order, your baby coming before your body.
If you were too skinny and not showing enough, they'd say something then too!

wow while I'm not surprised because let's face it, people always seem to feel the need to comment on a woman's appearance  ....I cannot believe how insensitive your friend was to say the comment about 2 in there knowing you lost a twin!!!!  You have the right attitude, and it's the same reason I'm not beating myself up over what I eat (my healthy eating has went in the toilet!)....whether I gain 25 pounds or 50, if I have a healthy baby by August I could care less what shape I'm in!! So sorry you have to deal w/ idiots, as your pregnancy wears on I hope they keep their comments to themselves!!

So sorry to hear that. I have a friend who used to smile and say to people "you know, while I know you're probably trying to be nice, you might not want to say that to a pregnant woman because..." then fill in...it can sound rude...be hurtful...be misinterpreted. Not only did it have them apologizing and feeling as dumb as they sounded, but it turned the tables on them and had her talking down to them and correcting them. She did it sounding classy, though.

How rude, I'm so sorry! I'm sure that's exactly what you wanted to hear after such an exciting announcement. I know it's hard to do, but just brush it off. All that matters is that you and baby are healthy!

Yes I can totally relate. My first pregnancy I was relatively thin before I got preggo and the comments were obserd. "Oh I knew you were preggo from the weight in your face..." I heard that over and over again. Even after maternity leave when I came back "Oh I see you lost much of the weight in your face, only a little left to go" like ridiculously insulting statements.
I haven't officially told yet now but at 14w I'm getting all the "looks" from people about my weight gain, I think everyone knows already anyways.
I think once people are far from the childbearing years or haven't experienced them yet they just can't relate that these comments hurt, even if we can "blame" pregnancy it still is insulting. I just don't think they realize that.
I have already decided to humiliate those that make these comments to me, I am prepared this time

Crashing - I feel that when you are pregnant people feel they have license to say whatever they want - it used to irk me to no end!
People I knew didn't say anything for the most part but, random people on the train used to make obnoxious comments that made me crazy!!! And people I work with that I don't really know.

I'm sorry people are seriously jerks! I'd love to tell you that it gets better, but I felt like last time with my ds, that the bigger I got, the more the comments flew in.
I just started making rude comments back. Most still didnt get the point

People really suck! This time around I am getting wow you are 29 weeks your look small. Are you sure you are eating enough. Its annoying! Just enjoy being prego and who cares what your body looks like. As long as your baby is good then you are. People are idiots and don't think before they open their mouth.

I've learned over many years that people always speak without thinking. I had the exact something happen to me. I work as a librarian and throughout my last pregnancy I had library patrons ask me "are you sure there is only one in there" or " you don't look ok. You look bigger than your supposed to be." A few months ago I was shopping for my baby shower dress and two strangers standing in front of a store started whispering and glancing at me. As I walked by they stopped me to ask me when I'm due and when I told them they proceeded to tell me how large I looked. Needless to say everything I tried on that day made me feel horrible. All I can say is to try your best to ignore these morons and focus on the miracle inside you.

I'm so sorry, I would expect more, especially from your friends! I've been lucky and most people just tell me how small I am and great i look, but I can tell that if it had gone the other way people would have been just as open about the bad comments. Anyway, my friend has dealt with crappy weight comments and our doctor told her that she isn't doing any thing wrong except that she should stop hanging out with stupid people! I loved the comment!!!
Just curious, did you say anything to your friend, especially the one who said the comment about twins? I would give her the biggest guilt trip ever, and hope it never happens again!

I'm one who has never been pregnant, but hello, common sense would have to rule here. Since when is it not rude to tell a pg woman that she looks fat/big/like she is carrying multiples/insert any insensitive comment here.
I've followed your stories and you have every right in the world to be pizzed at these dumb-azz people.
The best answer is - none.
Stupidity does not deserve one, although a good eye roll doesn't hurt.

Seriously!!! I have not gone through half of what you have and I still get offended. Some of my close friends can make jokes about my weight and I don't mind, its the perfect strangers that have commented that pisses me off, about my face as well. I have a lot going on right now and watching my weight or appearance is the least of my worries. Just enjoy every second of this and don't let anyone take that away from you!

I hear ya!! Apparently I got told this weekend that my nose got bigger so Im having a girl ,lol.. Im like where are you seeing these things, hahaha! I just brush it off at this point and let people judge, their going to anyways! Try and ignore it if possible you have a beautiful baby inside you and thats all that matters:)

Easier said than done, but just ignore it! You will hear all types of comments when you're pregnant and you really just have to stay in your own head and do what's best for YOU and YOUR BABY.

Some people just dont think before they speak. Don't let it get to you! Weight gain is a good thing. It's HEALTHY. So next time if someone says that to you, take it as a compliment :)

Sorry people are stupid. Most don't realize what comes out of their mouths. Just wait till you get hit on , I don't know what's more uncomfortable. Just try not to let them get to you. You worked hard to get there and you are enjoying being pregnant, go with it and tell those commenters to buzz off.
