Peanut Butter?
What age did you give peanut butter to your child? DD is 9 months and I forgot to ask at our last pediatrician appointment. I'll call on Monday, but in the meantime I've seen conflicting things on line. There are no peanut allergies that run in the family.

Peanut Butter?
1 year my sister has an allergy. Her is mild, benedryl is what we do for her, still go to the ER but just precautionary. Our house was never peanut free, which according to many studies helps. There is a whole school of thought that actually encourages treatment of peanut allergy with very small doses of peanuts. This has been developing over the last 10 years and they are finding amazing results, it doesn't cure the allergy but makes it so if there is exposure the reaction is relatively mild in comparison.

Peanut Butter?
Dd was like 7 months I think. She gtabbed dd's hand when he was eating a sandwich. She had eggs really young too. I remember us mentioning it to her dr because it was on a no no list we were given by the doctor after the fact. Doc was like oh well at least you know she isn't allergic.
To this day she loves peanut butte .

9 months. My ped said there is no need to wait until a year anymore (unless you suspect there's a chance of allergy)

15 months. My dad is allergic, so I sat next to DS with a bottle of Benadryl and my phone just in case.

Peanut Butter?
1 year - we have no allergies in the family but somehow DS is very allergic. I highly recommend that when you do give it to your child that you do it in the parking lot of an urgent care.
When I was pregnant, they recommended that we don't eat nuts so I didn't. But a friend heard the opposite and she ate a lot of nuts and her child is allergic. There are recommendations now of giving peanuts earlier bc they think going a long time without as a baby is what is causing allergies, but I don't think I agree with it. It all seems pretty random.

Re: Peanut Butter?
7-8 months...there was a large study that came out (leap study) which showed earlier introduction is showing decreased allergies to peanuts as long as there is no history of allergies in family to peanuts.

Re: Peanut Butter?
A year. No allergies. I ate PB&J almost every day during pregnancies, I didn't know we were not supposed to eat it. Both kids are fine.

Re: Peanut Butter?
We introduced it before a year at the direction of our pediatrician. With my older girls, we waited until after 2 years, but the recommendation had changed with my younger dd.

A little before 1, he had been exposed to other kids eating it near him and it touching his skin before that.
