now I am confused!
Ok, so since I am using the ovulation sticks and they say you ovulate 24-48 hours from positive result how in the heck do I know how many dpo I am? Not that it really matters cause I am not testing til I am late (at least that is what I am telling myself right now  )

when i get my +
i always "assume" that i ovulated on the 2nd day.. which would make the 3rd day 1DPO..
so if i got a positive today.. 14th
then the 17th would be 1DPO..
just to cover myself !!

so the next day after that count DPO

there is no "Given rule" - unfortunately, Ovulation is not an exact science. the only way to know for 100% sure is to have an ultrasound and catch it happening.
the best way is the way Deanna mentioned - it also prevents you from testing too early....

I think Deanna was saying that she assumes that once she gets the +, she ovulates 2 days later so actually 3 days after + would be 1DPO
If you get a + today, Monday would be 1DPO cause you can assume you will O on SUnday

De and Jess are vets around here too, so you can always trust them! 
I usually count the day after my second +OPK as 1 DPO because that's when I ovulate (as confirmed by temping) - but I would do it anyway just to be conservative.
So pretend you got a +OPK on Monday. You could ovulate on Tuesday or Wednesday, but we'll assume Wednesday to be conservative (so you aren't tempted to test too early). So if O is Wednesday, then 1 DPO = Thursday.
