No More Formula!!!

I brought Jared to the doctor today and he said to start feeding him whole milk. He's weighing in at 26 1/2 pounds and 31 inches. He's also in the 95 percentile.Chat Icon

Now I can save some money on formula!Chat Icon

Re: No More Formula!!!

Just curious how did your ped. instruct you on how to wean him off the formula and get him on the milk.

Re: No More Formula!!!

He told me to either go "cold turkey"Chat Icon and give him whole milk or give 2 oz of milk and 6oz of formula. Then the next day, give 3 oz of milk and 5 oz of formula, etc...to try to wean him off the formula.

That's great! I think weaning is the best way to go.
I though cold turkey would be okay for us and was sadly mistaken. When I gave Michael his first bottle of real milk I was awakened at 2:30 in the morning to him crying hysterically becuase he had thrown up all over the place. The stench was awful. So I had to give him a bath at that time and he puked again in the tub then again while getting dressed. By the time I was done changing him, bathing him and cleaning and changing the crib, etc... I wanted to kick myself for not even stopping to think that his stomach might have needed time to adjust. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

AWESOME!! Wait till your off it and the bottle! It's great!!!

And it's so easy to grab whole milk and bring it to a friend's house!!

We went cold turkey with a sippy first thing in the morning then after 2 days he got one for lunch then 2 days we added dinner as well. Within a week my life so easy!
