Naming baby after my father - need help
So my father passed away suddenly the day my DS turned 1 month old. Today would be his 60th birthday
Months after he passed away, my brother had his 3rd child and gave him my father's name as his middle name.
I would like to do the same, but I am having a girl. I am having some emotional issues with doing this so in the end I'm not 100% sure I want to, but for now that's the plan.
His name was Antonio.
We are hispanic.
The obvious choice would be Antonia. What are other options? I don't want to do a random "A" name in honor of it. It's either a deriviative of the name or something completely different. I am a big fan of middle names having a special meaning (my middle name is my grandmothers and DH is named in full after his grandfather).
Any ideas or suggestions?

I'm sorry about your father
There is a girl on these forums whose name is Antonella. I always thought that was very pretty

I agree with the other ladies, I love Antonia. My name is sort've a derivative... It's ToniAnn. (named after my father-Anthony)
Antonella is really pretty too.

Re: Naming baby after my father - need help
I think Antonia is beautiful and a perfect name. There is also Antoinette, but I like Antonia more.
I have to give you over the loss of your father. We lost my Dad just this past October. He knew I was pregnant and was so excited to meet his new grandchild. He was really hoping that it would be a boy, but he asked us to not find out what we are having. We will be using his name somehow in there (Joseph) if we have a boy, and my OB set my Delivery to be St. Joseph's Day, March 19th, so I feel like it is a sign!

I would go with Antonia--I think its beautiful!
I agree that using an arbitrary "A" name just won't be as meaningful as using his actual name (just the female version of course)

Re: Naming baby after my father - need help
I love the idea of honoring your father with the middle name. Kieran's middle name is James, after my father who passed away in 2003. I think Antonia really is a beautiful name. Love it, and I think you would grow to love it because of the significance.

Ditto ditto.
Also, I'm Jewish. We use the letter when naming a child. So if the other 2 names are close, just use the letter a for a name. That way it's still naming her after your dad, but not SO close that it might not hurt so much being so obvious.
