My experience with temping/OPK
Hey girls!! I just wanted to share some info that I've learned in the past few months with all these visits to the RE. I started temping about 6 months ago (after 1 year of ttc) I really like the fact that I could time better and I had a sneak peak into my body's cycle.. When my gyn told me I could O anywhere from CD 12-21, i said "I know I O on CD 18 because I take my temp religiously every day". He kind of dismissed it and said well that's not an exact science. Who am I to argue with a dr.. even though I didnt believe him lol Since Ive been going to an RE, i have to have blood work and sonograms every few days to see the maturing follicle/egg and based on that, we detect exactly which day the egg is released. example, you see it on the sonogram one day, the next day you go back and it's gone... you know you O'd somewhere in the last 24 hours.
Well, the last 2 months Ive been temping to cross check...and my temps don't rise for 2 days after I O!!
What was 100% accurate for me was the CBEFM. I only started using that 2 months ago, and the surges were exactly right based on my blood work and O days.
I'm not saying this is the case for everyone but for me it was. I've learned so much from you ladies and just wanted to share some info for you!
for all!!!

so interesting! I haven't started temping (yet) but I guess you never know since every body is different. Good thing you went to the doc!

Re: My experience with temping/OPK
Wow, thank you for sharing that and Im so glad you now know this...I have to be honest though, I never fully believed 100% in the OPKs, temping etc. kind of thing. I know temping is a great tool but I never 100% believed in it for the same reason you're saying....when it comes to TTC you can never know exact day of things..

Re: My experience with temping/OPK
I have no idea about temping but that is really interesting!!
So does that mean that you O'ed even though your temps didnt rise?

Re: My experience with temping/OPK
are you doing medicated cycles with the RE? if so it screws up the temping a bit..

No it's a completely unmedicated/natural cycle.

yes, thats exactly right. We confirmed i O'd. but ny temps didnt rise for a full 48 hours.
As bettyb said in a previous post/topic... the best signs are our own bodies and intuition. We have to trust them. Th problem with TTC (fpr me anyway) is that it made me analyze everything and no longer listen to my intuition. That doesnt mean I would be pg any sooner, but sometimes I have to stop trying to take control of everything. Im not a doctor, and shouldn't pretend to be.

very interesting! thanks for sharing.
i usually every other day before i see EWCM, then everyday i have fertile CM, then after my temps rise we go back to every other day. So hopefully even if i'm O'ing earlier than what my temps say i'm still covered!
