Re: Moms... if you could go back to school for FREE and get a bachelors or masters degree, wwyd?
YES!!!! In a heartbeat!
I want to go back to school so badly and I feel guilty about it...my masters would be $$$ and being we have a mortgage, 2 kids and I possibly want another I keep pushing it off. I am afraid I might push it off too long to make it worth going back

Definitely - and now is the time! 30 is NOT too old. Esp. free, do waht you're interested in now, no matter how long it takes - take your time and balance with your family, you can take it as you need to, esp. since its Free!

i went to nursing school at 22years old.. but there were quite a few women in their 30's with kids who also were in my class and did well. I feel.. its never to late to do what you really want.. just know that its VERY demanding!

Re: Moms... if you could go back to school for FREE and get a bachelors or masters degree, wwyd?
Thank you so much! I'm going to see what kind of prerequisites I need and really figure out exactly what I want to do. I know a career change will be worth it, but just thinking of it now it's hard to see an end in sight.
They have a 1 year nursing program for people who already have a bachelors degree in something but it's full time and I can't do that. I'm going to try to meet with someone to see exactly what I need, how long it will take going at night, etc.
Thanks again!

I would definitely get my Masters in Music Therapy, which is what my Bachelor's is. I actually started last year, but it's too freaking expensive and I just can't make it happen right now. But I would TOTALLY go for it if it were free!!

Re: Moms... if you could go back to school for FREE and get a bachelors or masters degree, wwyd?
I have a bachelors degree in one field and two master degrees in a completely different field. I have always been about furthering my education and feel like a have spent endless years of my life in college/grad school. If it is free it seems like a no brainer but...if it meant time away from my son I don't know if I would do it now.
I have also chosen to be a sahm and am def not utilizing any of my degrees right now It is sad to say that I regret going back to school in one sense bc of the massive amount of student loans I acquired! Although I'm still young and I figure when my kids are in school I have many options if I do want to work.
Hard decision but I say if you can take very very slow go for it!

Re: Moms... if you could go back to school for FREE and get a bachelors or masters degree, wwyd?
Even if it was free, if I did not want to go into that field or I was not interested in the subject of the Masters, no way.
However, if you were interested in what you would be getting the Masters in, absolutely.
I have a juris doctor. If someone would pay for me to get a MSW, I would do it in a heartbeat because it would be a good back up and help me in my family law practice-kwim? But if someone told me to get, lets say, a LLM in tax and would pay I would never do it because I have no interest.
Would this Masters give you a huge salary boost? If not, don't bother.
