Honestly 10 million or even a little less would put us in a great place, but I have no plans of retitring no matter what. Just want to change careers.

1) Since DH would be with me, I would most likely call my parents first

2) I would not make a big purchase off the bat, I would get DH's uncle to help us invest & allocate the money into some CD's or what not. I would not pay off my house bc I like the tax writeoff

3) I don't think I would really retire but I would request to be put PT. Of course if I had kids, that would be a different story but honestly I don't mind working.

The Lottery can blast your image all over the place once you claim your prize, I would never put myself in a vulnerable position without protecting myself and my family first. This is why I would call the attorney/accountant (for financial protection and a bodyguard (for temporary physical protection).

1. DH would be with me this Friday night, so I would call my BFF, b/c we bought tix together and 1/2 would be hers
2. pay off all debt (house, cars,), of ours, my parents, my MIL, Sister, BIL. Set up college funds for nieces and nephews.
3. Dh and I were discussing this morning, even if I won the whole thing for myself, I still would have to do something...so would he. But for me to quit work and not him....take home 1 million dollars - then I couldn't do all of the above....for both of us.....probably 20 million take home.

First would be something fun and frivilous. Then, my mortgage, anything left on our parents' mortgages, and set up my brother, grandma(s). Of course, insert setting up a financial planner and lawyer to handle crazy family/friend requests.

conservatively speaking, about 3 mil (after taxes). all we need is a house and a new car, so i figure that will cost about $750,000. 1.5 mil can go into an account and we can live off the interest, which won't be a problem since we won't have mortgage or car payments. the rest will go towards paying off credit cards and student loans, and a travel fund.

Maybe family but would probably keep it hush hush. The game plan is to not cash in right away anyway and then to do it under a trust.
