Re: Male teachers

I guess if it were a woman im-ing, I honesty would think it was weird, but not nearly as weird as a man.

In all honesty I probably would have thought the woman was online paying bills, and maybe saw my sister on her buddy list and imed her.

I know I sound ignorant. I know I have hang ups about men. I know that once something happens to a kid it can't be taken back.

I am sure that all your teaching DH's are great, great guys and wonderful role models. But I would be uncomfortable.

Re: Male teachers

You know I just thought of something, my friend Jason is an elementary school teacher and the kids have his email address so that if they need help with homework or projects he can help them. ALl the parents have his email too and his screen name is Mr______(his last name). Anyway, when he is online the kids IM him about all sorts of stuff - games, trips, TV shows, you name it...and most of the time he ignores them even though he feels bad. I can see now why this is a good idea, you know?

my sister had a male 4th grade teacher. My mother did not like it, but said she would give it a try. So 4 months into school year, my sister is online and gets an im. computer was set up in dining room so my parents constantly monitor it. it was her teacher IMing her about beenie babies. my mother thought it was totally inappropriate.

Is that okay or not? A grown man after hours IMing a student who he saw all day regarding beenie babies?

Its werid, what was his reason? What did he want to discuss about beanie Babies?

Would that be more appropriate if it was a woman? The sex of the teacher doesn't seem too relevant in this case. He wasn't sending her porn or asking for sex.

Whats the deal here? All I asked was why he was IMing her - what did he want to discuss. And to answer your question, I would have asked the SAME if it was a female teacher. What I wanted to know was why it was so important to talk about beanie babies at night, via IM...

Oh no, Kathy, that was directed at Janice, not at you.

Re: Male teachers

Rich gave his softball girls his cell #, obviously to call if they're lost getting to a game, or can't make it, etc.

We were shopping in target one day, and 3 of the girls were together at someone's house, and they kept calling his cell and saying "hiiiiiiiiiii mr. mXXXX - whatcha doooooin?" He quickly got off the phone, and the next practice, he made it very clear that his phone number was for softball calls ONLY, and he would bench the girls that broke the rule.

yes, he feels bad about being mean to the kids, but hey, what's inappropriate is inappropriate.

Re: Male teachers

My tenant is 25 yrs old and teches at St. Anthonys...he's also a coach. At one of the games, his wife was sitting on the bleechers and there were 3 girls (students) sitting infront of her and they didnt know that Mr. X was her DH. Anyway Mr. X walks by and all the girls coo away "Hiiii Mr. Xxxxxxx" and he says back "Hi kids" and then walks away - but then the girls start saying "OMG Mr X has THE nicest ***" and "I would totally DO Mr X he is so hot" and all kinds of stuff.

I dont know what made me thing of this but totally inappropriate.

Re: Male teachers

In HS I had one friend who slept with a younger science teacher, and another(fellow cheerleader) who did the much older, and married vice principal.

on 20/20 one night, they showed an explosion of hs coaches sleeping with female athletes. and the girls were not forcibly raped, but called and looked for more.

Re: Male teachers

A close friend in high school totally hounded the student teacher we had for 12th grade calculus. I mean, she was relentless. They eventually dated.Chat Icon
