Low Tolerance???
Just a question for you ladies......what is your tolerance for crying, screaming, fighting, and general upheaval/craziness in your house?? I have a ds who is 6 and a 2 year old dd. I feel like I have a really low tolerance For those charades. I can't imagine having more than 2 ever at this point. Or perhaps I just suck at parenting/controlling my children. Any thoughts???. Sometimes I feel like running away.....

Re: Low Tolerance???
I have two- a 6 year old and 3 year old.
Our house is very lively and I cannot imagine handling more kids!
My tolerance varies by the day. If I am tired/stressed it is harder to take the bickering, crying, etc. I have gotten much more tolerant and remaining calm (most days) by:
Walking away into another room to take a breather.
Not getting in the middle of their disputes.
Deep breaths
Exercise
Make sure I get enough sleep
Nights out with friends or DH a few times a month.
Try to find humor in the chaos.
It can be very tough, especially this time of year with kids cooped up inside together a lot. We get on each other's nerves more!

Re: Low Tolerance???
Depends on the day sometimes I feel like I am going to lose my s#%t 3 minutes into my day other days I have much more tolerance.
Do you get out alone? I find if I do something for myself (go for a run/to the gym) I am much more tolerant
Also I think this winter had been rough for everyone between the weather and sickness I feel trapped sometimes.
Hang in there you are not alone
Eta: I agree with the pp sometimes when things are nuts and I feel like I am going to go insane...I will just laugh or act silly and just break the tension :)

Re: Low Tolerance???
As of mom of boys ages 4 and 5 and 4 months they are silly and crazy. I tolerate alot except the shrieking - it gets on my nerves. I let them have fun as long as no one is getting hurt. They need to burn up their energy somehow.

Re: Low Tolerance???
I have a 3.5 year old GIRL so as you can imagine the drama, tantrums, whining and screaming are at an all time high. I can literally feel my BP start to rise most days. I have very low tolerance for it. I always have been like this. Sometimes I have to go in another room for a while to calm down or get some quiet because I feel like I might blow.

Low Tolerance???
We only have 1 and he's almost 8 months old. When he is really crying I have more tolerance because I know something is wrong there. When he is fake crying or whining I have less tolerance and when he is scretching I want to rip my ears off!

Re: Low Tolerance???
I think the other have given good advice. Just know that you are not alone. I have a VERY active and naughty 4 year old DS and a 9 month old DD. I work full time and at the end of some days I just lay on the couch wondering how I'll do it all again tomorrow! I am also a teacher so I have to be patient all day with other people's children. It sucks that sometimes that makes me tired and less patient with my own children at the end of the day. I do the best I can and on bad days, I always tell myself that tomorrow is another day.

I have a low tolerance, at least I think I have a low tolerance because everyone thinks my dd is an easy child, and I'm still at wits' end! I don't know how people have two. The thought is completely inconceivable to me!

Re: Low Tolerance???
I think I have a pretty high tolerance except for the week before AF arrives and then my tolerance level is low. When my kids start to fight - 8 and nearly 5 I let them at it first as I don't believe in jumping in to sort out every disagreement..this time of the year is tough on everyone - kids and parents as cabin fever does set in.
DH finds it harder than I do - I think because I am home all day with the kids that I don't hear them as much as he does...maybe I am numb to it

Re: Low Tolerance???
Yes, I feel like I have very low tolerance for the crying, whining, meltdowns, etc. of multiple children.
I think getting a few hours a week without the kids is important.
Of course, I don't have this option with DH's work schedule but, in theory, it sounds great.

Varies. Sometimes I'm screaming by 8am. Other times I sort of tune them out.

Re: Low Tolerance???
Thanks for posting this because reading your post and reading most of the reply's i feel more at ease and...."normal"? I have been a FTSAHM of 1 girl (3) and 2 boys (3 and 18 months) only for 3 weeks now so i am with all three of them all day every day. My tolerance level can be very low some days and other days they are very high. There are days where I wonder how the he!! I am going to get through the day. I have to walk out of the room and breath. Sometimes i go to bed at night crying feeling like a failure at this because I feel like i did not give them enough attention that day, or I lost my patience too much with them that day because i had to walk away from them 5 or 6 times or gave someone too many time outs. Bedtime is hard because DH is working late pretty much every night and it's just me. It usually helps if i have a good nights sleep. DH and I don't get to go out by ourselves much really because we have no one to sit for us most times. But when we do, i feel sort of refreshed. I try to go out with my girl friends every so often to dinner or something and I try to get out of the house once a week by myself. Even if it's going to the supermarket by myself just to get out. It's rough but clearly we aren't the only one's who struggle with this and I keep telling myself "they are only this little and will need me for so long"

Re: Low Tolerance???
I have to say, I never thought parenting would be so hard on so many levels. I guess you just think that parenting will come naturally, but it hasn't come naturally to me. Perhaps because ds is so difficult at times and I feel like we have a love/hate relationship. I cannot find a medium with him because his moods fluctuate so much. Ugh...I feel like I suck at doing what is best for him. Such a tough balance. It's good to know I'm not the only one with a low tolerance. I mean you hear about people who have 10 plus kids, but perhaps their parenting techniques are stronger. It's hard to be consistent and act like you know exactly what your doing, but you don't. Blah, blah, blah, sorry, I am rambling on and on and probably not even making sense.

Re: Low Tolerance???
Nice to read I'm not alone. I can relate to pretty much all your posts here. Sometimes I read LIF and seems like these pple have the perfect kids and juggling it all. Some days I feel like... Hey, I can do this. Some days it's not even 8am yet and I'm begging for the day to be over the boys to go to bed. Ugh! Parenting is NOT easy. I went from being a ftwm to SAHM ans now I work part time from home. They are all tough. I'm very greatfull to be home eith my 4 and 2 yr olds, but I miss "me" time. I think this winter with the snow isn't helping any of us. We're all feeling a bit trapped and have cabin fever. That's why some days if I can't escape I can by going on LIF for support. Thanks ladies!!
Btw... Some days I am upset schools closed. I read fb posts from friends so happy that schools off for winter break or whatever and by day 2 I'm like... Ok, time to go back to school. Lol

This is me... Past 2-3 nights dd has been fighting bedtime and I feel like I'm gonna rip my hair out... She's usually sooo good that I don't know how to handle this behavior. I try my best to calm her, but the min I step out of the room, she's screaming and I walk away feeling like a failure parenting is sooo not easy!

Re: Low Tolerance???
I think I have VERY low tolerance. I just lose patience quickly & give up & kinda freak out. These days he's actually really good & calm compared to when he was a newborn, but I still have my own little meltdowns when he gets really fussy or won't sleep & nothing I do makes it better.

Did I write this
I've always been such a patient person but I have such a low tolerance for whining, crying & nonsense. Hence the one & done for me

Low Tolerance???
Some days I feel like I have zero tolerance. When we are home all day nothing seems to bother me. It's when I work that my tolerance goes down. DS has limited speech and there are times he is trying to tell me things and I have no idea what he is saying and I feel so bad. Especially because I can see he is getting frustrated too.

Low Tolerance???
Some nights, after having worked all day, and racing around, I just have zero patience. DD who is 3, is not listening or whining and making outrageous demands, I sometimes just lose my shit. For example, i ask her nicely (the first 5 times) to get in the bath. DH sensing my frustration still doesn't help. That's when I yell and get pissed. Honestly I'm prob more annoyed at him than her at that point, lol. But some nights, I just don't have anything left and have a shorter fuse. And other nights, DD is so sweet and listens, that I feel guilty. It's a delicate balance, that's for sure.

Thank you I too cry too often. I see or hear about so many "perfect families" where the parents and kids have such a great relationship. There is no yelling involved, no one loses their sh!t and everyone seems so calm. I often wonder what I am doing wrong. It's nice to read about other people having the same experiences. Not that I wish for anyone else to be going through what we all are going through, it's just nice to know that not every family is perfect and what we are going through is somewhat "normal". A glass or two of wine each night is pretty helpful too

Re: Low Tolerance???
My tolerance goes from 100-0% in 30 seconds lol. Mostly in cases when I'm trying to get one dressed for bed and she isn't cooperating and the other is across the room chewing on her shoe or pulling the baby monitor plug out of the wall or trying to pull the camera down lol. Then they go to bed and its wine-o-clock.

Low Tolerance???
my tolerance is low in the middle of the night, its not the crying, its the constant moving. She punched me in my right eye 3 times last night. She had 2 good nights in her crib and now shes back to being in our bed because she cries as soon as i put her down.
