i'll bet that big black guy that had them captive is that other woman's husband (the one who keeps saying that he husband is still alive) remember, he was at the back of the plane in the bathroom when it went down.
Nope, I do not think that this guy is Rose's husband.. Rose seems older, this guy seems younger.. and like Eileen said, the accent threw me a bit
I am still not entirely convinced that "THE OTHERS" are just the other surirvors of the plane crash.. I think Ana Lucia might not be all she appears to be (there are some interesting theories running around on the LOST message boards, and one of them is that Ana Lucia was not just an innocent passenger on the plane.. there might be more going on with her and WHY she was on the plane than meets the eye)
Also - I do not think that (1) that was Locke's father on the Dharma film that Jack and Locke watched.. I think Locke would have DEFINITELY reacted.. and (2) I do not think that was Jack's ex-wife Sara in that photograph with Desmond in the hatch.. again, Jack would have TOTALLY reacted to that, just look how crazy he was just becuase he recognized Desmond
i agree with you flee except for one thing
locke DID react to the video, he kept wanting to watch it again

Re: LOST!!
Hi I'm new to this site, but love this show.
My take on it is:
1. The Dharma experiment was #3 of 6. In the video they mention "sectors" I think there is more then one hatch on the island.
2. This would explain why the shark has a different symbol on it then the Swan.
3. there was def something going on with the skips in the tape, but i couldn't figure out what it was.
4. Maybe "calvin" was the guy that Jack shot last season. Maybe he didn't really die.
I'm still really confused and wish I had TIVO so I could watch it again!!

Re: LOST!!
Is there anyone else that doesn't think that the guy is Locke's dad? Not the guy in the video, the guy guy. I don't think he actually is Locke's birth father. He never said he was, Locke said he was. And in the backstory last night, he actually said that Locke needed a father-figure and he needed a kidney and admitted to it completely being a con. I think the woman was Locke's birth mother but I don't think this dude was the father, I think Locke just matched, he knew how desperately Locke wanted a father so it was an easy kill.

Ding Ding Ding! Eileen you took the words out of my mouth!
I have NEVER been 100% convinced that Locke's "dad" is HIS FATHER... as you said, it seemed like a scam on so many levels and there is NO evidence given to us from Locke's backstory that this man was, in fact, his biological father
There is another great thing going around the lost boards... that Helen might not be as innocent as she appears. In fact some people have speculated that Helen might in fact have been HIRED by Locke's "Dad" to keep Locke from stalking him...
Helen says "take a leap of faith, choose your father or me" .. she was definitely the pursuer in the relationship, she pushed Locke to make a choice...
And I still think the fact that Helen was the same name of the lady that Locke was talkign to in Austraila on the phone is more than coincidence. I'm not sure they are the same person BUT as I said, Im not sure that Helen in last night's episode is going to turn out to be the "love interest" that she is appearing to be

Nope, I took that to mean something different. That Locke was getting s*cked in by what the Dharma tape was saying, he needed to understand what the experiment was, what the hatch meant, WHY you have to type in the numbers and his execute... Locke buys into all this! He needs to figure out WHY he was brought there and WHAT brought him there (remember Locke's mantra "I'm doing everything you want me to do".. he feels there is reasons for eveyrthing that is happening, he is a man of faith)
I still think Locke would have REALLY reacted if he thought there was a chance that was his Dad (or the man he thinks is his "Dad') was in that tape..
AND also get a load of this : a lot of the "LOST" groupies on the chatboards think that Locke saying "lets watch it again" (the Dharma film) was a "wink , wink" inside joke from the producers/creators .. direct to the fans out there... urging US, the viewers, to WATCH the film agin on Tivo, tape , whatever... becuase there are a lot of clues in it
The producers do EVERYTHING deliberately, even in throwing out direct clues to the fans!!

I totally agree- I think there is something sinister about her. When Locke was on the phone with "Helen" in season 1 when he was in a wheelchair, he was so desperate for love- it was so sad. I think Helen is going to betray him- and is somehow linked to his father.
I also am not sure the man is his biological father. The only thing that makes we wonder is why did he seek him out- he must have been confident that their kidneys would match... they have to have some connection- but I don't think it is necessarily father and son.

I think the "father" is not his real dad...
But...the old film----I don't think the skips in it were 'skips'...I thought those sections were spliced OUT....like sentences were purposely taken out. Anyone agree?
Jin speaking english--*** was that? That is a new twist!!

Re: LOST!!
Hi brain fart! Someone on LIW just redirected my attention to the whole BF Skinner reference(s). I didn't even THINK about it until she mentioned it again but Skinner was the founder of behaviorism. "Skinner's box" was his field of experimentation where he rewarded rats alternately with morsels of food when they dumdumDUM... pushed a button.
Now I really really wish Jack had left the button alone. I think he was completely right - the hatch is a para-psycho experiment on how long someone will continue to push this button simply because they were told something may happen if they don't.
ETS: I wonder if that means that someone somewhere is monitoring the activity...

Re: LOST!!
The person playing Locke's father is actually the guy for a series some of you never heard of and I forgot the name...was it "Emergency"..he played a firefighter.....it was from the 70s.....and the picture posted above is not him....boy he has gotten old...!
It is Kevin Tighe of the old Emergency..... This is what I found................................. Originally aired: Wednesday October 5, 2005 on ABC
Writer: Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Craig Wright Director: Jack Bender Guest Stars: Robert Patrick (Hibbs) , Marvin Candle (Dr. Marvin Candle) , Michael Lanzo (Waiter) , Jeanne Rogers (Moderator) , Roxanne Sarhangi (Francine) , Katey Sagal (Helen) , Curtis Jackson (Security Guard) , Kevin Tighe (Cooper) , Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond) Production Code: 203
Jack, Locke and Kate learn more secrets about the hatch. Meanwhile, after being beaten and taken captive, Sawyer, Michael and Jin wonder if their captors are fellow survivors or the dreaded "Others." Flashbacks reveals more of Locke's past in this episode as well as the introduction of Helen (guest star Katey Segal) who shakes things up even more with her revealing personality and past.

yes this is true and on the Lost site...
But i really don't think that the hatchis a big skinner box. Although the outcome is somewhat the same...You are iliciting purposeful behavior. But relly we know this can be done already so what is the point...seems too stupid imo
