Absolutely. I'd rather get something I wanted. I didn't even try and tiptoe around or anything, I just told DH "I want the Nook for my birthday, can I have your debit card so I can order it?" And I did!

I think it's fine. It probably takes the pressure off him. He'll be happy.
I know at the beginning of a relationship it mgiht be different, but I tell DH exactly what I want. LOL.
He always manages to surprise me anyway
