cloth diapers...if anyone has a moment, can you point me in direction

somewhat of a starter kit.

I really want to give it a whirl...but don't want to put too much of an investment into this.

I would use disposable outside of house

also wanted to ask...if a diaper service gives you someone else's diapers...is it the same as buying slightly used off of craigslist?

I am weary to put someone else's diapers on baby...but I guess that is what a diaper service does though?

first of all, try the TRIAL on Jillian's Drawers

also, I personally have a few slightly used newbie ones that should fit baby if you'd like to try them. I will most happily send them your way.

I think of it like this...I accept hand me downs from people that could have potentially been the site of major BLOWOUTS...and I dont' freak about the poopies.

I guess I just don't consider baby poopie to be that gross.

and cloth diapers is WAY easier than people make it out to be. especially if you use the all in ones.

I really like thirsties and bumgenius. I just need to get more of them.

ETA: to me the difference in the diaper service vs. craigs list is there INDUSTRIAL strength washers and dryers. I trust that a service steamed all the germies out of there. I dont' necessarily trust strangers (though I realize I just asked you to trust me by offering up Luce's newbie diapers )

I was going to suggest Jillian's drawer too. I have heard rave reviews about them. I wanted to do cloth but my husband is against it

We LOVE cloth diapering..... and really its VERY easy to CD when you are out....

they're wipes are also nice and big and SUPER soft

we use a snappi to hold the diaper together



and a thristies cover on top in lots of fun colors as my little model is showing

I knew there was a trial site that had been posted...that sounds good.

I would take hand me downs...and I guess just sort through them. I live in a hippie town, so I am sure once I announce at the park that we are using them, offers will come in.

The CD in public scare me! I have a 3 year old already addicted to peeing on my car tires, trees, and building walls.

I hate that I did not do it with #1...then I would already have the diapers and really get my money's worth. But a bunch of haters at my shower

so you get the prefold...you get a snap for it...then you get a cover?

I figure I can launder every other day.

I use bum genius all in ones. I don't have enough for the two babies, so I have to wash every other day. It is a pocket diaper, so you just put the insert inside the diaper, and then it is all ready to go. They are also one size, so you don't have to buy a whole new supply as the baby grows.

I also highly recommend the jilliansdrawers trial, I did it and they were so helpful answering all of my many questions. I didn't start until later (1yo), but use BumGenius one size and fuzzibunz. I am now looking into prefolds/covers for my newborn and may do the trial again with him as all kids are different. Its easier then you think, people thought I was nuts, but once you get your wash routine, wet bags and pail set up you are good to go. I do put him in disposables when we travel overnight, but for day trips I just have a big wet bag. I will warn you--you may need a bigger diaper bag! Feel free to FM any questions. Also check out diaperswappers as blissful suggested, I found it a bit overwhelming but overall helpful

Love cloth diapers. Been using them since DS birth. I used mostly prefolds, snappy, cover combo in the beginning during the day. And fitted/ covers at night. We now use bum genius as our night time diaper and prefolds, fitted or all in ones during the day. I echo diaper swappers for tons of information. Also you can go to cottonbabies.com to see some products and view people's review. Try a few different products to see what works. Also I think its fine to buy from Craig's list. I always sanitize clean all products even brand new before I use them, and it can save you some $$$.

to just try - i would buy 24-30 prefolds, 3-4 covers, and one wet bag for laundry, and 2 snappi

prefolds are the cheapest and hardest do if you don't mind them you can buy more expensive diapers

and if you don't like cloth diapering then the prefolds can be used for cleaning rags or burpclothez
