Re: I am fearing the worst-possible miscarriage. **UPDATE**
How many weeks are you?
Honestly, I would be so pizzed that they didn't do a sono and I would call up and demand one for first thing in the morning. THat is absolutely ridiculous. The bloodwork can take days to come back and there is no need for you to be in limbo - especially over a holiday weekend! I'm sorry but I'm so upset for you right now!

ITA 100%. My first thought was why didn't she do u/s? You are about 7-8 weeks, right??? why all the limbo if she could just do u/s and see what's going on?
i would call ASAP and at least ask the question. Good luck!

OMG me too!!!! I read this and thought I missed a piece. Why wouldnt they do a sono? The #s to me I would "think" would mean less then seeing that the baby was active. Ive been through it all so I am feeling anxious for you right about now. Can you ask them for a sono? On a side note...You "could" walk into the hospital and they will do a sono.
-Sorry 1 more thing, suppose the #s are still high, that wouldnt indicate a safe zone either. My #s didnt go down with the miscarriage until probably 4 weeks later. Anyway, I hope and pray that everything comes back perfect and this is just a fluke of some sort.

i think she meant walk into ER at any hospital. Say that you are bleeding and pregnant, they will do sono right away.

I would walk into any hospital and tell them you are experiencing bleeding. The blood was taken at your drs office I am assuming? You could probably just go into the hospital you plan to deliver at. When your dr asks why after you go to the hospital. State the bleeding was continuous and it made you nervous.

ITA about #s. with my first mc, numbers were high enough for that timeline, but u/s did not show a sac. at that point, #s started to drop, but slowly. in other words, #s themselves are not that useful after all.

Re: I am fearing the worst-possible miscarriage. **UPDATE**
At this point, I'd wait till tomorrow, but regardless of what the numbers are I'd ask for a sono.

Me too! Reading this update just made me sooooo mad! How could they have not done a sono today????? There is no need to make you sit and wait when you could easily know something now. I am furious. I would also call and DEMAND a sono tomorrow. If you're more than 6 weeks (which I think you are), they should see a heartbeat and then you can at least know all is well or know it's not good.
Im so sorry they are making you wait it out like this.

but blood work wont show much. For example, one of miscarriages my numbers were fine...but an ultrasound showed no baby and I had a blighted ovum.
One set of numbers wont show anything either, so tomorrow the numbers wont mean much. You should have an ultrasound. At this point, you should see a heartbeat. I would really insist on an u/s tomorrow or go to the hospital. They will give you one.
Ugh im so mad!

My numbers were at a standstill for weeks - and only went down 100 at a time every few days. The sono is the best way to go to know where you're at. I hope we're not upsetting you but you have to be your own advocate with this. I learned everything from the girls on the TTC after miscarriage board. I wouldn't have known a single question to ask the doctors.

Re: I am fearing the worst-possible miscarriage. **UPDATE**
you will see something on a sono as long as your beta bloodwork is above 1000. since technically they dont know when you conceived (even if you are pretty sure you know), there is no reason for them to just make an assumption that your beta "should" be over 2500. i think that your doctor is being a little naive in making you wait for multiple rounds of bloodwork. if the first comes back over 1000 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE demand a sono. good luck!!!!
