HS Reunions

Did you go to yours? I just got a letter about my 10 year reunion. Its Thanksgiving weekend, costs $110 pp, and there is a list of over half the class that they still haven't been able to get in touch with. I always said I wanted to go, but $110 seems like a lot of money to me - especially when over half the people they haven't even contacted yet, and also Thanksgiving weekend? It all seems like this was planned really last minute.

Re: HS Reunions

I went to both my reunions. The first was Thanksgiving weekend. The second was this summer. The theory behind Thanksgiving weekend is for classmates that move away, it's a 4 day weekend that they can come back for it.

Mine is the same weekend....it conflicts with the OSU vs. UofM game so no way am I going!

They wanted $110 per person or $150 a couple....pfffft tickets to the game are less than that!

Re: HS Reunions

I didn't go to my 5 year reunion. It was like $80 for 2 hours of open bar, so for the two of us, $160, and it didn't seem worth it to meMost of the people I want to talk to from HS, I do, or I can, and it was mostly other "groups" who were there, etc. Out of a graduating class of almost 800, I think they had only 100 something people there..

Re: HS Reunions

My 10 year reunion is in 3 weeks.
I am not going. Mainly because I can't fly home to NY this late in my pregnancy, but also I am not sure I would have went otherwise.

Re: HS Reunions

I went to mine with my DH since he knew a lot of people I went to HS with. It was also Thanksgiving weekend. There was a pretty good crowd there too.

DH and I went to hs together. We didn't go to our 10 year reunion. Over $200 seemed rediculous since we still talk to people in our class. We heard from someone who went that almost nobody went, only like 20 people.

Re: HS Reunions

Both of mine were well worth the money. Even though we started planning ours early, it was still hard finding 1/2 the class. Does the cost include dinner?

My 20 year reunion is next month. It's being held in the bar of a hotel and approx 35 per person. Apart from the fact that it's in Dublin, it's also the same weekend as our first anniversary.

Re: HS Reunions

I didn't go to any of my reunions.

I recently met an old friend from HS and she said, she couldn't find me. She was on the committee..

Honestly, I have no interest and my 20th was last year.

Re: HS Reunions

I went to my 10 year-- I believe they are always Thanksgiving weekend cause they would assume that most peopel would be home.

Ours was at the Marriott in Uniondale and there were about 9 other 10 yr reunions going on-- all produced by Reunions Unlimited.

I am happy that I went- but it was so anti-climatic-- I will not go to another one.

I went to my 5 and 10 year reunions. They were held at the school and cost very little, if anything. I thought it was too soon, all I did was chat with the girls I had kept in touch with anyway.

I did not go to my 15 year. I honestly had no desire.... And the cost was a lot, so that made the decision easier.

I feel old now! Chat Icon

Re: HS Reunions

yes I just went to my 10 yr reunion but it was in the cafe of our high shcool and it cost 50$- it was a rip off cause it was also a cash bar BuuuT I did have a really good time. I am still friends with alot of people from high school so I knew alot of people going in. I brought my Dh but kinda wished that I didnt because he was soooo bored and kept asking me to leave.
