Space is an issue though as we have a small apartment but we'll have to discuss it tonight when DH comes home.

Re: How would you react to this...

Hmmmm...tough call, being that I know her/etc, since she has you guys over all the time, I would definately do it just for that. (knowing that she's not trying to sneak out of doing it for any other reason, she does like to host her family obviously).
as far as the "new baby" I think that "gig" is worn out after 3-4 months, as much as Id like to use it to explain my "baby weight" Chat Icon Chat Icon so you better be adjusted by now, your planning his 1st bday!Chat Icon

You know I love hosting and having a house full of people, I even always tell john it will be half as many people as it really will be (he caught onChat Icon) JAs party was when Luciano was 8wks old, and it was a good 18-20 children, not counting adults. and it was one of the first times that I did a good majority of the cooking. (do it the day before)

I TOTALLY agree with everyone bringing something! Email everyone if/when you have decided that you will host, and ask who can bring what so that you can organize it.

If its just the immediate family, a few trays of food should be fine. plus salad, desserts, drinks. and of course on the paper plates! I totally agree with that too! Chat Icon and dont worry about space, maybe you can set up the small snack tables, and everyone eats/chats.

It's all about being together, dont sweat the small stuff !

ETA: I thought she was a hairdresser Chat Icon Chat Icon but even so, I do think it's too much to get home and have a party going on at your house...

Re: How would you react to this...

Well I spoke to DH yesterday and said that we should do it if she really needs to switch but he said that when he spoke to her she said she was taking off early and that she will host.

He said it sounds like she really wants to do it. He said to let him know if she changes her mind. Of course she'd have to let us know sooner rather than later.
