How to stop BFing?
DS will be 6 months in 2 weeks and I have decided that the time has come to stop BFing. I am extremely proud that I have been able to do it for 6 months after not even trying with my first DC, but I know that the best thing to do for many reasons is to switch to exclusive bottle feeding. I have been supplementing since the beginning due to low supply so DS has no problems with a bottle. What have you ladies found is the best way to stop?

Start cutting out feedings one or two per day to decrease supply gently. Then keep decreasing over a few weeks. If you do it slowly you won't deal with fullness and the chance for clogged ducts. If you do it too fast it can be too much for your breasts to handle. Feel free to FM me with any questions.

DS weaned on his own after 27 months so I didn't have to do it on my own. From what I've read etc.
Best way is to slowly wean. That will help you with engorgement. Drop a feeding every few days. So if you are nursing Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening, PM. Drop the noon feeding. Then a few days later, drop the afternoon feeding. It's supply and demand so your body will stop producing the milk if you aren't nursing your child. Don't have a specific number of days you should wait between dropping a feeding. You can google or maybe another person will give a good recommendation. Otherwise, listen to your body. You would feel most full for the afternoon feeding the first day you drop, and less each day thereafter. Once you feel comfortable and not engorged, then drop the next feeding.

when I stopped I cut out 1 feeding every 2 days, after about a week I wasn't filling up as much and after 2 weeks I was able to totally stop.

By my own choice I took four weeks to wean. I slowly started dropping feedings, until I only feed for a few mins once a day if I felt a little engorgment (at the end) just to relieve it a little.
