I guess I have to stop bfing -should I still pump?

I have been bfing and ffing but dd spits up too much so her ped had me switch formulas to a soy one. Her formula has pretty much overtaken my bfing. I have been trying to pump just to keep myself from drying up but I don't get anything. I know its not a big deal but I guess I have to stop bfing and pumping bc now the little I do get is just sitting in my freezer.

Should I keep pumping just incase? Or should I let myself go? Also, how long does it take for my supply to dry up?

Why do you need to stop? Does she have a milk sensitivity?
You can cut dairy out of your diet if this is the case.

Why do you have to stop? Has she been tested for a milk allergy? If so you can just go dairy free like pp said (I did). Also, if she does have a milk allergy it's very common for babies who have a milk allergy to also be allergic to soy. It could be just reflux also, have you seen a GI?

I agree with the PP....you may not need to stop. Most physicians know little to nothing about breastfeeding. I would recommend contacting a lactation consultant and also having your DC checked for a milk protein sensitivity or allergy before giving up.

I would pump and see if her spitting up improves or worsens. My DS had severe reflux and stopping BF was the last resort....usually kidies with digestive issues do much better with BF. My DS did not though, he needed prescription formula and meds. I pumped for two full weeks around the clock to keep up my supply until it was established that he was better off on the formula.

Have you seen a specilaist? I wouldn't just stop BF as you will become engorged and then dry up and be without the BF option which might be best for your DD. Dealing with digestive problems in infants is like playing clue....you have to just figure it out piece by piece. Defintiely seek help from a specialist to do this.
