How old did you think you were going to be

when you had your first baby?
I always thought that by 25 I'd have 2 kids already, I always wanted to be a young mom. My mom had me when she was 21 and my sister 13 months later. She had my youngest sister at the age of 28. Well I am 6 days away from turning 25 & TTC.
Just wondering if you wanted to be a young mom or you wanted to fulfill career or any other goals before having children.


Also - I know I'm getting ahead of myself..... BUT since a lot of us are TTC baby#1 - I know we're not thinking about baby #2 but... if you want more then one child how far apart (ideally) would you want them? I always thought I'd want one right after the other. But now I see that its not that easy.

Gabbie - I had similar feelings!

I thought I would have my first at 23, second at 24, third at 28 or so - or maybe first at 24, second 25, third 29. All by 30 definitely.

I still might be able to have 3 by 30 - but who knows.

Ideally, I'd want the first two to be 1-1.5 years apart (or twins), and the second to be 3-4 or so years after that.

With the injectables and IUI - there's a good possibility for multiples.. so maybe our plans for 3 before I turn 30 could still work. At this rate, the earliest I could have my first would be at 25.

Who knows! I think about this often though.

I am 30 turning 31 in a month. We are having a baby exactly when we were ready to. We have both succeeded in our careers, own a co-op and are getting ready to buy a house. We feel ready to become an expanded family! But this happened very organically, it's not like we were planning it this way. We just figured early 30's.

When I was younger I prob thought 25 but I only got married at 26. We wanted to wait around 2 years to start trying which is right around now.

I just turned 29 and am hoping to have one in the next year or so. I won't go back on BC after my first so we may just see what happens. I'd rather have kids around the same age than risk waiting and not being able to have anymore. We'll see were just hoping for one at this point!

I always thought I would be a young mom just didnt expect it to actually happen. I did/do want to have all my kids by 30.

DH and I want to have 4 but it all depends on when we get our BFP for #2. I would like 1 and 2 close in age and if all works out have #3 in 2012 and # 4 in 2013/2014 that way I'll be done by 30

I always figured my 1st would have been born before 30. He was born at 31 and his brother was born 2 years and 10 days later when I was 33. With luck my 3rd will be born at 35.

Before meeting my DH, I always said 1st child by 28, 2nd by 30.

DH and I had similar notions, but since he is 2 years older, we decided to use his age instead of mine (so my 26 for 1st and 28 for 2nd). I am currently 26, almost 1/2 way to 27, and no luck yet. Needless to say, we are now shooting for MY 27 and 29!!

I am going to be 40 in May. I always thought that by the time I was 33 I would be married and TTC. I could have done that had I made the right choices in my life. If I don't have what I thought I would have had by now- I have no one but myself to blame. I say that all the time to myself. I was not a good decision maker and now that I am going to be 40 I can see all my mistakes.

Sorry, I guess I just went off on a tangent. Kind of a sore subject for me.

i am 31.... i thought i would have a baby by now, but didn't know I would be almost 30 when i got married.

at this rate, i'll be lucky if I have the first by 32 or 33.

I always wanted my first by 30, I'll be 30 in August, so if I get a BFP this month, it will be before my 30th, if not hopefully before I turn 31. I would like to have my 1st and 2nd 2 years apart, but I'll worry about that after I have my 1st.

I always thought I would have a child around 28.
but I did want to finish my degree, have a house and be married a couple years before trying.
So here I am @ 32 and still try for #1.

I'm thinking back to back is my option at this point. A set of twins would really help me out

I always figured I'd wind up starting in my early 30s - which is what happened! I wanted to make sure that I had finished school, established my career & owned a home first. Check, check & check - so here I am

I thought I would wait until about 30 to get married and maybe a around 31 or 32. I got married last year at 27 and now we are ready to welcome a I guess I have a little wiggle room for ttc.

I definitely thought I'd be married with kids by the time I was 25

I didn't get married til I was 32 and didn't have DD til I was 33

I thought I'd be married by age 22 (when I thought 22 was OLD! ) First kid by 25, second kid by 27 and last kid by 29! I figured, my mother had all 3 of us before she was 30, why can't I?

As it was, I didn't meet DH until I was 33, got married at 34, started TTC at 35, and here I am just months shy of 38 getting ready to have in just 3 months!

30 for my first and 32 for my second.

i turned 30 in July and just missed my last chance at a baby before 31. I want to be done by 35.

I always thought I would be married and have a kid by 27. I didn't get married until I was 33. I got pregnant 6 months later.

When I was younger, I was thinking late 20's.

Well, that did not work. Got divorced in early 30's. Met DH at mid 30's. Got married. I got DS in late 30's.

Life is never what we really think it was going to be.

When i was growing up i always thought 25, but life didn't have that in mind for me. I'm 28 and just got married this past summer...I hope to be pregnant before i turn 29 in June. Personally i want to wait at least 2 years before having a 2nd. I am 3 years apart from my sister and 6 years from my brother. My mom said she wouldn't have it any other way b/c she got to enjoy each one of us w/out too much stress. I was in nursery school when she has my sister so she has some time to be alone w/ her. same for my brother. I see so many that have them close and it sounds so hectic for me. I'm hoping I can wait ....

Years before I was married, my plan was to be married at 25 and first child by 28. After I got married at 26, I thought I'd like to have a child or at least be pregnant by 30. I'm 29 and due on Christmas.

Who knows what will happen, but ideally I'd like 3 kids. I'd like to be done or at least pregnant with the 3rd by 35. I like there to be no more than 3 years between each child.

I turned 23 in July, so assuming there's no serious delays with conceiving, it looks like I'll be 24 when we have our first. I guess its not THAT far off from my original plan, but most of our friends our age havent even gotten married yet, so it feels like we're way ahead of the game.

Haha, well- I never wanted children. I never even wanted to get married. But hten I met DH and I just knew we'd get married adn that we wanted babies...

Now, I'd like to have 2 before I'm 30. I'm 27 now and we'll be TTC in January.
