How much time are you taking off from work
For maternity leave?
I had intended to take 12 weeks, but only 6 or 8 weeks will be paid. I don't know if I can afford an additional 4-6 weeks unpaid. I don't want to use up all my vacation time so early in the year, and it seems frivolous to me to deplete our savings just for the sake of staying home a few extra weeks.
Just curious what others are doing...

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I will take 16-18 weeks depending on the amount of vacation I have banked. However, I will also go back with no remaining vacation.

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I am taking 14 weeks & I am so happy I had that because the difference in my newborn's sleep between 6 weeks to 10 weeks was huge (and a big life savor to my sanity) At 6 weeks, we were still getting up 3x a night & at 10 weeks, he was sleeping 8 hours straight.

How much time are you taking off from work
I'll be taking off 3 months, same as I did with DS. It's a little tight for a little while but I found it worth while for us.

How much time are you taking off from work
I will have 6 weeks off paid maternity leave. And then I will be a SAHM. I work from home now, but my company already told me once the baby comes they don't feel comfortable with it. I guess they think I will be distracted. They're prob right lol

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I work in a school setting. I used most of my days with the twins.
This baby is due march 22ncd. I will probably only have 2-3 weeks paid. I am taking off and going back in sept. The rest will be unpaid.

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I'm still technically out on maternity leave with DD and she's 20 months old... but I was only paid for my sick days.
FWIW, there is a difference between a 6-8 week old and a 12 week old. By 3 months, BFing was well established, she was sleeping in longer stretches, and I physically felt much better. If you can afford to take the extra few weeks, IMO it's worth it to do it.

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I plan to take 12 weeks as long as I'm able to work until the end. Last time I lost 4 weeks due to being put on modified bed rest. I hated that I had to leave DD at 8 weeks and asked work for an extension but was denied.

How much time are you taking off from work
I will be working until the very end and taking off 12 weeks with LO. 8 will be paid (10 if I end up getting a c section). I will be home 4 weeks unpaid. I started saving when I got my BFP, hopefully we'll be ok financially those 4 weeks.

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I'm taking 12 weeks...4 weeks maternity, 4 weeks vacation time...4 weeks unpaid, taking money out of savings, but I think its worth it to spend more time at home bonding with my baby :)

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I'm going to take the full 12 weeks. It won't be paid other than STD and 2 weeks of parental leave but it's worth it to have the time with our LO.

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
I will be out of the office 3 months. But will prob start working from home part time after a couple weeks since I won't be paid anything over my saved sick/vacation time. My job is flexible and will allow me to put in scattered hours throughout the day. Figured working at least part time was better than filing for disability.

Re: How much time are you taking off from work
10 weeks. 8 for disability (basically unpaid) and 2 vacation. I have to use all of my vacation by Dec anyway.
