How Much Do You Spend on Yourself Each Month?

DH wants to have a better handle on our budget with a growing number of expenses and since he spends basically zero on himself, he doesn't understand why I spend more than zero on myself

How much do you spend on average on yourself per month? Hair, clothes, grooming, coffee, lunch if that counts...it seems to add up even if some of those things aren't every month. It's at least a few hundred $$. And I'm a conservative spender!

Pre baby vs. post baby the change is ridiculous... sad actually.

Hair - I haven't gotten a haircut since January, and I color mine out of the box - so $8ish every other month

Clothes - I buy in spurts. When winter ended, I realized, hey I need all new work shoes because mine are all falling apart and disgusting ... so $400 at Macys online for 8 pairs of shoes when they were having their shoe sale. And then I won't buy anything for months until I need something again. Maybe occasionally buy a $50 dress for a party coming up. I am pregnant now so I am wearing all of my maternity clothes from last time around.

Grooming - Eyebrows and lip probably once a month, or whenever it gets totally out of hand when I look in my car mirror lol. $30.

No more nail appointments, just cant seem to get there or I have to arrange for childcare in order to go, and its not worth it for me, I'd rather stay with my son. I used to go every other week for nails and toes before having a baby. I would do a gel mani and a regular pedi. Like $50 every other week. Since having my son 18 months ago, I have gotten my nails done for his christening, his first bday, and my SILs wedding. That's it.

Lunch - I buy lunch at work probably 2 times a week.. so $30 a week between that and occasional coffee stops in the morning when I don't want to drink the coffee from home lol.

I would never even be able to guess and it varies so much. I could go 6 months without buying clothes and then all of a sudden go on a spree.

I get coffee every morning....that is my only constant. Food at work depends on my meeting schedule, how lazy I am about cooking at home etc.

I get my hair done every 4-8 weeks spending on my schedule and its not the same every time.

Nails - I do get my nails done every 2 weeks.

I'm afraid to add up the coffee and lunches. Other than that, I hardly spend anything on myself.

No kids and I don't spend money on myself at all. I get a haircut maybe 3-4 times a year. I haven't had my nails done since the summer. I'll pick up clothes here and there but nothing noticeable. Eyebrows once a month $12. I used to spend $35 on them in the city but found someone cheaper and more convenient.

All of our money goes into savings and the occasional trip and food. We live way wayyyyyy below our means and I love it. Seeing our savings increase makes me happier than a new pair of shoes. Cleaning out my apt last weekend made me realize how much money I used to spend on nonsense.

It depends. I try to get my nails done every 2 weeks but I am lazy and don't got every two weeks so I probably averages every 3 weeks and total cost about $60

I don't buy clothes to often for myself but lately I have been buying those damn LLR leggings. so clothes def does not have a huge impact on montly expenses.

I hate getting my hair done and I am horrible at getting it done so I do it once a year maybe twice

food spending is bad sometimes I buy lunch and breakfast every day at work and that's really bad cause that also about $13-15 a day but I have been trying to stop and I have for the most part because I am on WW and its easier for me to bring my food in.

Don't drink coffee so no need to buy it thogh even if I did my job supplies it free of chargge DH on the other hand buy 3-4 cups a day

Only other monthly expense on myself is the WW online subscription and that $20 a month.

Anything else spent is on other people and that's monthly and out of control

We each get an "allowance" each month. All our income is deposited into a joint account, we pay bills and put money aside for household expenses, then send a percentage to our savings, and we each keep some to spend or save as we please in our individual accounts. The varies due to variable expenses like gifts for other people, unexpected expense, etc.

Eyebrows - 10/ month

Clothes/shoes - probably 100/mo

Other spending on myself is when i have the occasional drink/dinner out with friends.

My waste is on takeout for me and kids and other random amazon shopping

No kids here. DH and I live well below our means and put a lot into our savings. We both have hobbies that can be expensive (him: a classic car and plays guitar/me: making nail polish, collecting nail polish and play drums) but we don't spend money on those things each month.

We're also not big into shopping for clothes; once or twice a year we buy a bunch of new shit for the season and then the occasional splurge on something nice. We don't have expensive taste though.

We eat breakfast at home every day and I pack lunch/snacks every day. We don't go out for lunch and don't really buy coffee. I cook most nights.

I haven't cut my hair in a long time and I skeeve/get immensely bored at nail salons. I do my own nails every week. My haircuts are cheap; I go to a woman in my neighborhood and she does an awesome job for $25.

Anyway. To answer the question...I spend maybe around $30-50 on myself per month on "little" things - some nail polish, a pair of sneakers, something from like H&M if I happen to be in there on my break. That's what most months look like. I have had months where I have spent more than $500 on a new cymbal or $100 on nail polish, but most months I'm really frugal with spending on "extras".

Before our daughter was born, it was definitely a lot more. I would say the only thing I buy myself on a daily / monthly basis is my Starbucks visits (roughly $40 a week between drinks and snacks there). My every so often high lights for my hair are a thing of the past & clothing is once every few months for an event. The one other indulgence I have is a monthly wax which is paid for the year so about $10 a month in tips.

We each take out $200 cash every 2 weeks. That covers random lunches, my eyebrows and I get my hair done every 8 weeks ((pretty cheap since my girl left her salon after having her baby and my DH watches all the kids while she does my hair)). That doesn't include clothes or family take out because I budget that separate unless it's something ridiculous that I save for lol. I'm a SAHM though, so my money tends to disappear to the kids lol.

I shop in spurts. So I can go months without spending for me and then I will spend. I get my hair cut every three months. I only get my nails done for special occasions. I don't really buy coffee out. I get a massage for Mother's Day and my birthday. I do meet up with friends for lunch once a month or so. Sometimes we will eat in each other's homes though.

If I spend it is usually something for the house, or the kids.

I have 2 kids, and I do spend on them, mainly on clothes because I like them to be dressed nicely.

For myself, I do get a manicure weekly.
Unless it's a busy time of year (for me, it's May), I bring lunch 90% of the time.
Clothes I put a LOT of thought into before buying, but especially lately I've been buying relatively expensive clothes. This year I've bought 2 dresses, a pair of shoes, and a sweater, and I spent over 1k. However, I also sold an old bag an an old pair of shoes that resulted in about $500 of what I spent.
I don't go out with friends often-I'm seeing a play in July, and that will be the first time going out by myself with a friend in probably a year.
My hair I get cut twice a year, and dyed every 2-3 months.

Since having DD whatever money I used to spend on myself I now spend on her. I really do not spend very much on myself. I get a mani/pedi every other week and I had to buy new maternity clothes recently. I bring my breakfast and lunch almost everyday and if I do get coffee it's $1.50 from the deli by my work. I always say how I walk around in the same clothes from 5 years ago, but I hate putting DD in the same outfit twice :)

Basically nothing. I do get my hair dyed and cut every 6 weeks but that is it. Now if you asked how much I waste spend on my daughter then that would be a significant amount lol.

When I shop for clothes, I usually buy a lot at once and then don't shop again for months.

I get my haircut 3-4 times a year. $45-50 per cut. I'm going to have to start getting it colored soon...

Not much. I spend mostly on things for the home and for the kids.

I work from home so I don't need work clothes and I eat every meal at home mostly.

I get my hair cut twice a year and it cost me about $85-$100 each time.

I only get ppedicures in warm weather months and only once a month and only manicures if I am going out somewhere nice (2-3 times a year).

Eyebrows - once a month $10

I meet friends on average once a month and spend about $50 on average.

Clothes i buy in spurts so if i have clothes from the season prior that still fit and look nice I don't buy anything.

But I will do things like go out to dinner with hubby once or twice a month...get a massage with DH a few times a year...and then we meet friends as a couple for dinner about once a month.

Its so hard to quantify

Hardly anything at all. Before kids was very different. I was working and would go shopping all the time, mostly for clothes for work, and just clothes in General.
Now with kids, the most important thing to me is being able to be home with them while they're young, so I pretty much only buy myself clothes or shoes when I NEED them, which is rare, since my closet is pretty packed from all the shopping I did pre-kids. I cut my own hair and do my own nails too, and I'm really good at using coupons and finding deals on things like makeup, nailpolish, hair products, etc, so my spending on that stuff is very minimal.

Too much. I have no kids so that helps my budget. LOL. But ever since last year, I lost 70 lbs. I buy new clothes every season because everything else doesn't fit. It's nice but also super annoying (and expensive) bc I know I'm not at my final goal weight and will have to go through this again. #firstworldproblems

I do a weekly manicure- 10 = 40 per month

I get lunch once a week- 10 = 40 per month

Most times I prep my food so that is usually covered.

Clothes probably $100 per month. I shop sales and use a lot of cashback with Shopkick to earn giftcards so definitely under 100 per month.

Hair is about 115 every other month for color and cut.

Coffee is about 10 bucks per week with DD and 10 with Starbucks. I use their reward system. So 80 per month.

The cheapskate in me is cringing at these numbers. I can probably do away with the coffee and the lunch.
