How much do you spend on formula a month?

I might have to go this route if breastfeeding and my milk supply doesn't come in anytime soon. I have a low supply and I'm 3 weeks PP. I will be using similac.

Does it ever go on sale anywhere?

About 50-75/month depending on how old he was and how much he was eating. Sign up on the Similac website and they will send you checks to use towards the formula.

We spend alot! but that's because DD is on Similac Alimentium for her reflux and it's expensive! A case of 6 cans - powder is around $150, and we go through a can about every day and a half.

Go to the Similac website and sign up, they will send you coupons in the mail.

Re: How much do you spend on formula a month?

way too much. LOL

We used Enfamil Gentlease for the first 4 months (we used gift cards from BRU and I only purchased when I had a $5 check)

Now, we use Parents Choice Gentle from Walmart and/or Member's Mark Gentle from Sams Club. Its $10 cheaper than Similac/Enfamil and my DS does great on it. So now, we spend anywhere from $30-$50 a month (depending on coupons).

We buy Similac with iron at Costco and were spending between 90 and 120 a month. I BF DS for the first 4 months and supplemented with formula starting in his 3rd month. He's almost a year so this expense will be ending soon.

Re: How much do you spend on formula a month?

when we were using enfamil (DS was 5 months), we went through a big can every 6 days. that was $25 each - about $125 a month.

then we switched to the target brand (exact same stuff) and paid $14 each - about $70 a month.

after that we got the big cans from berkley and jensen (BJ's brand). those are only $20 each but have twice the amount of formula in them. and again, exact same stuff. so that was $40 a month.

now that he is drinking only about 20 - 22 oz a day a can lasts 2.5 weeks and we pay around $30 a month for formula. Ds is 10 months now and has been drinking this amount since he was 8 months old.

GoodStart has amazing $11off coupons and they sell 20% more containers at Target. They let me stack my coupons so I usually BOGO. It really isn't bad at all...$45 a month because of the BOGO Chat Icon

We don't spend a lot at all. DD is on Similac Advance. 2 weeks ago I stocked up and got each big can for $11 each after rebate, checks and coupons from Target. One I actually got free because I bought other things that had free $5 GC. There are ways to be savy, you just need to shop around. It is easier if your child is on Similace Advance or Sensitive.

That answer will varydepending on what formula a baby is on & how much they take.

At the height of our formula use, DS was taking about 30 oz a day. We used Similac Organic & I got it at BJ's. I paid $33 for the large can. (without a coupon....less if I had one). We went through 1 can every 6 days. So almost 5 cans a month for $165Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

When I BF and supplemented, we used 2 cans a month so it wasn't bad $$ wise...but I did not know I would give up BF as soon as I had too (7 months).

So for us the most expensive time was from 7-12 months. Now we are starting milk so the expense is endingChat Icon

About $200 a month. I go through about 2 LARGE containers from BJ's a week.

Its about $300 a month for this boy between diapers and food before I dress the kid.

ETA: I use my$5 coupons from Similac and he is on the Advance with early shield immune protection.

Re: How much do you spend on formula a month?

ds is 4.5 months and we go through 2 Big Powder formulas a month (Only sold in BJ's and Costco)

with my similac coupon it is 23 dollars each, so 46 a month on formula.

My DD has been on Enfamil Lipil since she was a week old and even in powder form it was a fortune. ($25/can)

Around 7 months we switched to the Target Brand which is exactly the same as Enfamil but only about $11.69/can. More than 50% less!! Chat Icon She is doing great on it, no change at all with her and we spend about $50/month on formula now instead of $100. (A can lasts us about a week......maybe a little longer. - She has (4) 6oz. bottles/day)

A little under $100 month. We get the 36.5 oz cans at Costco. They are usually on sale for $25.

I cant wait to switch to MILK. I spend about 75-100 bucks per month on formula for DD. Plus Hubby only likes to buy her Organic Similac formula because its for his Princess. Ughh i would just buy her Go and Grow but he insists on her having Organic

i've found the cheapest place so far (though i haven't gone to BJ's yet) for Similac is A&P (walbaums in NY). It's $1.00 cheaper than BRU and Target..

Re: How much do you spend on formula a month?

Good Start RTF was about $120-150 a month. But DS was a big eater and he did better with the RTF than the powder so thats why it cost more!

When DS was last on formula we bought about 4 cans of powdered formula a month at $26 a pop! So a little over $100 a month. I was so happy to switch to milk--that costs us about $16 a month.

Definitely sign up for the checks--they get stingy with them as DC grow older, but they help out in the beginning.

WOW! I never realized how much $$ people spent on formula. I know I definitely dodged a bullet for that.

Sam's Club & Costco sell larger powder can Similac and since its a "check" not a "coupon, they take the "checks"

I used to buy Similac from BJs - with my checks I'd say I spent about $100 per month when he was completely on formula.

About $15/month. It's covered under DH's insurance and gets shipped to our house. Before that we would purchase from BRU using our gift cards or BJs and coupons.
