How many houses did you bid on before you found yours

we saw a house this weekend we bid on it but they told us the owner wouldnt except it....so just wondering what everyone elses experience was like?

We only bid on one other house but it was for sale by owner & it was very early on in our search! When we look back now, it was the best thing that could have happened...We LOVE our house now! it was definately worth the wait!

Edited to say, we lost count at how many houses we saw. We searched for 2 years!!!

We looked at about 20 houses. We put a bid on 1,which was accepted. Unfortunately, the seller and his son (who was co-signer) were having family issues and never signed the contract. After waiting 2 months, we backed out of the deal and got our money back. We found "the one" a short time later and hopefully close this week.

our first house we bid maybe 4-5 times, but we lost to many bidding wars.

We bid on 1 other house prior to the one we bought. We saw about 35 houses all together.

We bought during the crazy peak of the market in 2005. We probably bid on 5 and the 6th was our house.

Zero, ours was first.

We were very specific in what and where we wanted it. We already had a house.

We bid on 3 houses:

1 - We came to a difference of 5k and we wouldn't budge, and the owners wouldn't budge.

2 - Our bid was accepted, then the owners changed their minds and accepted another bid. We offered more money, but they said 'No amount of money' would change their minds.

3 - The third house we bid on is the house we bought.

We only bid on the house that we ended up purchasing.

We bid on 8 houses out of ~160 houses.

The house we bought we bid, they countered, we countered and then they accepted.

was the offer presented to the seller? The reason I ask is b/c the RE Agent is obligated to present all offers.

At least two. I guess third times a charm being our house was the third house we put an offer on and it was accepted

We bid on 2. The first one was in Bellmore on Howell Avenue - we were going to buy it, but the owner wouldnt agree to a price, and then in the end when he finally agreed to our price, we decided to pass because of the bedrooms being too small and the oil tank being under the ground

We bought during the big boom where there were bidding wars. I didn'g get involved in bidding over the price but we put bids in on 10 homes.

1-we even had an inspection done but found that the house needed a whole new foundation-wrong support beams, etc. It was a mess. We found our house 2 months later

We probably bid on and lost about 2-3 houses. We saw about 20-30...not including the days & nights on mls.

Just 1 - we pulled our offer bc the seller was trying to put us against another offer.

We put a bid on our current house the same day.

We only bid on our house, seriously considered bidding on one other. However, our first bid on the house we ended up buying was initially rejected. We decided to put house hunting on hold when our realtor called us two weeks later to ask if we still were interested in purchasing the home. We were buying at the end of the boom, and I think the previous owners thought they were going to get their asking price (they probably would have 6 months prior). They rejected our offer because it was low, and then realized they were going to have to come down so we met in the middle. That was six months ago!

We only made an offer on one other house, but it was 9 months before we found the house we live in. I was really picky, and only found 2 houses in almost a year that I wanted.

We bid on one other house beside this one. Our bid was accepted and we were going back and forth on contract terms (having to do with the swimming pool). We had the inspection and everything. Turns out that the sellers were stalling until their contract with their broker ran out. Long story there but we were really taken for a ride.

We then found this house and there was somewhat of a bidding war. They already had a potential buyer who was making some very odd demands. We placed a bid that was verbally accepted. Then that buyer came back and outbid us. We then placed a FINAL "take it or leave it" offer on the table. They took it and everything went VERY smoothly from there!

We are very lucky because we did better in so many ways on this house than the first one that we wanted. We closed in April 2005, so you have an idea of the market we were dealing with. Houses in this area, same model, same condition are selling right now for a lot more than we paid. Some of those are not even in as good a location (main road, etc).
