How long did you wait before telling your immediate family?

DH and I kind of want to wait for a couple of months but at the same time we are so impatient. Telling them on Christmas (when I would be 6 weeks) would be so nice and easy since everyone will be together.

Do you think that is too early? How long did you wait to tell your immediate family?

I always wanted to wait until 12 weeks. However, since we saw everyone for the holidays we couldn't wait ( well DH couldn't wait ) and we told at around 6 weeks

We always said we would wait until 12 weeks. Well, the DOCTOR accidentally told my mother (I had to go to the ER and when my mom came into my room to say goodbye, the doctor decided to explain things to her, including how the BABY was affecting things ). I was exactly 6 weeks then.

My 1st appt was at 7w2d and we saw the heartbeat and got u/s pics. So when we saw MIL later that week, we told her.

We asked them not to tell ANYONE until we announced at 12 weeks.

We did tell very close friends around 7-8 weeks before the families knew.

BUT if I were in your shoes, I'd find it very hard to keep it to myself around Christmas time!

I told my parents a few hours after I got my BFP. DH's parents live OOS, so we called them that week and told them.

We told everyone else around 10-11 weeks

We live in DC and were planning to visit NY when I would be 6 weeks. So we told both sets or parents then. If we living on LI we prob would have told them as soon as we found out. I just wanted to be able to tell them in person. If we weren't going up to visit I would have waited until our first sono pic (9wks) so I could mail it to them in a cute frame.
However we told BIL & FSIL the night we found out b/c they live 10mins from us.

eta: If I were you I would tell everyone at Christmas. That is so exciting.

I saw a heartbeat at 6w3d the day before Thanksgiving. DH originally wanted to wait until Christmas when I would be over 11 weeks, but he just couldn't hold it in anymore. We told our parents and brothers and sisters all on Thanksgiving. We have been revealing here and there, and by Christmas everyone should know!

DH & I are very close to our families and tell them just about everything, so we told them immediately. They knew we were going through IVF so they were waiting for the news. We did ask them not to tell anyone until we gave the approval (after the NT Scan at 12 weeks).

with ds i was 9 weeks... with this preg i was only 5 weeeks... BUT my parents were planning a vacation for the entire month i was do so i had no choice

We told our immediate family when I was 6w5d after my first appt. with the OB.

5 weeks, but that was because we were going through IVF so they all knew it was either going to be good or bad news.

I told my siblings right away... we told my parents on Father's Day when I was about 8 weeks.

With my 1st PG, we told my mom right away because she threatened to kill me if I didn't before we even trying.

My in-laws & siblings we told at 12 weeks.

With this PG, I am telling my mom after my first appt (7 weeks) and DH does not want to tell his family till 12 weeks again.

We told my parents, siblings, and niece the day i got my bfp. It was my mom's birthday so I got her a card from me and DH and then put another card inside that said happy birthday grandma. My sister and step-dad already had their suspicions and I have a big fat mouth so there was NO WAY i could keep it a secret

We are telling Xmas, I will be 10 weeks. We would have waited the 12 weeks but figured it would be better to tell everyone in person and Xmas seems like the best time

I told my mom and dad right away....told DH's parents right after our first appointment to confirm and then waited a little to tell everybody else.

Told our parents (and my bro) the night we found out and then my sil/bil's a few days later- all other family members about 11 weeks

ETA: My sister was on her honeymoon so I told her the day she got back. I was 8 weeks

3 months to the day i was out of my first trimester,,the dr always suggests waiting till u are out of your first trimester ...its so hard waiting

we waited to tell out parents and siblings until after the first sono so almost 8weeks. we want to make sure that everything seemed ok. plus it was nice to show them all a picture!

we waited unitl 12-14 weeks to tell everyone else.

We told on Thanksgiving at almost 10 weeks. It was HARD to wait but we wanted to do it on that day. We'll tell extended family on Christmas.
