Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I hate it.
I pass a taning salon on my way to & from the train everyday & it actually makes me angry that people would pay to damage their skin & possibly get skin cancer when there are other people that have never intentionally tanned & have had skin cancer.
I wear sunscreen, but I fear whatever damage I may have done before I knew about sunscreen.
I tried self tanners once or twice in my ealry 20s, but I don't mind being pale. I don't think I look sickly, I look Scottish.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
Considering how much information has been published about how damaging/dangerous tanning is- I can't understand why anyone does it.
I just don't think the risk of dying from skin cancer is worth the vanity.....

ITA- it is SO scary when you read the statistics of how just going to a tanning salon a few times in your lifetime ups your skin cancer risk by like 50%. I went a few times in college and I feel so guilty about it now that I would NEVER go again no matter what!

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I used to go tanning alot in college and early 20's but I stopped that I know those beds are dangerous and after a while grossed me out....I do like to go and lay out in the sun though but I try and limit it these days. I am getting sun spots on my face I use SPF 30 on my face now in my early 20s I was using 8. I am more conscious now of the sun.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I like to sit out in the sun for a couple of hours & read a good book. Factor 30 all over except my face which I put on factor 55 & always wear a hat. I go once a year to my dermatologist to get a check up. I think everything is OK as long as you do it in moderation. I like to have a little colour.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
10 years ago I would have said that I love it, but unfortunately years of tanning salons and beach going has started to catch up. I have early signs of crows feet, enlarged pores and sun spots and I am only 32. Gross, and a big regret!

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I have never been to a tanning salon and I'm one of those people who wear big straw hats on the beach and sit under an umbrella lubed up on sunblock.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I stepped foot into a tanning salon for the first time before my wedding. I enjoyed the fast tan & having the extra color for my big day. I still have 2 left in the package I purchased & have not used them!
I do enjoy sitting in the sun & going to the beach. I always use SPF & usually in the early spring/summer, I will use 30 & then as I get more color, I will decrease it to 15! When I was a kid, I would lay out with just baby oil on. I know the sun is bad for you, but I just can't get enough of it. The sunless tanners alll turn me orange! Without some color, I look sick & super pale

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
Here's the deal ladies..... regardless of whether or not you wear sunscreen, if you're getting color, you are damaging your skin and increasing your chances of skin cancer greatly.
I've just learned to love my lily-whiteness, embraced bronzers, and sometimes use self tanners.
It's so not worth the hassle of dealing with removing *bad* moles (BTDT) and worrying about the big C. And the scars I've gotten from those removals are far uglier than being pale.....

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I have never gone to a tanning salon. DH, on the other hand, goes every week! LOL!
I am a fanatic about my skin. That being said, you've gotta live, so sometimes in the summer, I will let myself enjoy the sun--with SPF. The flipside is that the sun sometimes breaks me out (oil gets trapped and when the tan fades, I break out) so I can't win! I use bronzer powder most of the time!

I only go a few times in the beginning of the year just to get my tan going. I never go all year round.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I dont tan, I have paty white skin and you know what I will take it. Skin Cancer runs in the family and after many years of roasting like a chicken I have decided to give it up. Sunscreen everyday on my face and I hardly sit in the sun. We went to St Lucia in Dec and people thought I made up the vaca due to my lack of color. I laid there with 50 spf on. And who wants to look like leatherface ion 25 years.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I wish I hadn't gone when I was younger. Now I know better and refuse to pay for long term wrinkles for a very short period of 'some color'. I spend my money on self tanner and facials now.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I tanned a bit prior tp my wedding, and a little bit when I was younger, but it's just not worth it to me anymore.
I'm very fair and skin cancer runs in my family, I don't risk it. I am usually the person on the beach under an umbrella reapplying SPF 45 every hour.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I used to sit in the sun a lot when I was younger...even did the tanning bed thing....
Now...that I have a huge ugly scar on my left breast from pre-skin cancer removal....I'm not a fan of the sun.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I usually only go tanning when I have an occasion like a wedding or trip and the same with laying out. I don't ususally lay out for an occasion though because of tan lines...Still I get very dark veryquick and hold onto it so i rarely go and it does not take a lot for me to get color...maybe 7-8 times a year at most...the rest is playing in the pool and such

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I was an addictive tanner.. I'd go to the salon 4 times a week. Then my grandmother got skin cancer & lost a large portion of skin on her face, right by her noce/cheek area.
Now I wear 45 minimum...usually 60.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I don't like the way "tanning" looks at all. A little color from being outside - I think that looks healthy and fine. But tans, no way, I think they're yuck.
