How do you feel about tanning?
I am not one to go to a tanning salon or sit and bake in the sun, but I always like to have at least a little color. However, lately, I've been very wary of going in the sun without a lot of sunscreen. I just look at all of these older women who look like leather and it scares me

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
Ever since my pregnancy and the melasma (mask of pregnancy) that I got on my face, I'm weary of tanning. I wear sunscreen on my face every day and wear sunglasses as well. I sometimes go tanning only because my sil owns her own salon. But I limit that to about 7-8 times a year.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
scares me, too. I like to have some color b/c I feel like I sometimes look sick when I am pale, plus I hardly need makeup when I have a tan. However, I can't stand the leathery look. I rent a beach house in the summer but I really only stay in the sun for less than 2 hours on any day that I am there. There are older people there who even have leathery legs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if it helps, but when I do have a tan, I moisturize whether I feel like I need it or not.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I haven't gone tanning since the wedding. If I do go again it will be for a vacation or special event. I go to the beach and always have SPF 15. I put self tanner on, especially to hide the flaws in my legs. I'm afraid to go tanning the way I used to.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I only did it before my wedding and I refuse to ever do it again. I liked having extra color for my big day, but I can't justify any other event in my life worth damaging my skin for.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I would never do it, never have. In the past I got some bad sunburns, I am very conscientious now to always put on sunblock. I don't think having "color" is worth getting skin cancer or looking like I am 65 when I am 40. I have pale skin and have accepted it!

Same here and I only went 3 times. The girl at the salon looked at me like I was nuts. In the sun, I tan very easily.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I have pretty fair skin and I am careful when I go in the sun-- I do however go tanning to prep for a trip, since I am fair, it builds a base and off sets the initial sunburn.
I really only had gone tanning like maybe 3 or 4 times in my life before the wedding... since then, it has been before I take my vacations.
I actually just started going to prep for my trip in a month.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I love the way I look tan, but skin cancer so is not worth it to me. Also, I worry about premature aging. I wish it wasnt so bad for you , I've learned to love my paleness.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
To me, it's the same as smoking. It's directly linked to a cancer and you have total control over whether you do it or not.
I've already had precancerous cells removed from my face because of not wearing sunscreen when I was younger.
I also have seen my mom and grandfather go through serious surgeries and pain to remove cancerous cells from their bodies.
It's not pretty.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I think it's SUPER BAD. I refuse to pay for skin damage by going to a tanning salon or baking in the sun. If I get color by being outside then great, but I know at least I have some SPF on. I think being fair/pale is beautiful!

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I have never gone before and am actually scared at the thought of baking in one of those beds! Im claustrophobic, i dont think i could handle it and its not worth the skin damage.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I haven't gone in a few years and don't plan on going this year. beside being PG, I burn and get freckles and that is the extent of my "color."
if i am outside, I wear SPF 45. I think for my wedding I had slight color, only b/c I used SPF 30, instead of 45.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I used to work at a tanning salon when I went to HS. I got voted tannest at the end of the year senior awards I don't really go during the winter. Now I got maybe three times a month. I really need to stop.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I use to tan a lot back in the day, but I have so many beauty marks on my body and I visit the dermatoligist once a year to get them checked, I also put on 15 or 30 sunblock when I'm outside now, don't want to have a ton of wrinkles when I'm older....

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I am a ghostly white color and love it. I have never tanned or sunbathed. Ever. and will never. I also use sunscreen religiously. I just want my skin to survive and I could care less if I am not tan.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I have done my fair share, but I have been trying to be really good the last few years.
I do love air brush tanning though - I did it for my wedding and a bunch since then.

Me too. I am especially scared because I burn alot and read that every burn increases your risk by a certain percentage . . .

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I have never gone to a tanning salon, and when I go to the beach, I tend to wear a high SPF b/c I'm very fair. I like to get a little color, but would rather get nothing than burn. I don't actually ever get tan.

Re: How do you feel about tanning?
I really never tan... however I just bought a tanning pkg the other night... Im very white- and would like some color for SIL wedding (which is basically next month)
Ill prob going a few times/week for the next month-month and a half and it will prob be the last time I go for a long long while...
I do enjoy laying out on the beach and relaxing but Id have to be out for hours w/o sunscreen to get the slightest bit of color (I know hard to believe considering how fair I am- but its the truth~)
