How costly is homeowner's insurance
Is it a yearly premium or something that is payed monthly? We are budgeting right now and trying to figure if that will break the bank...

depends how you set it up. some people put it in with their mortgage, some pay yearly, some monthly. in terms of cost, that varies greatly depending upon the size of your home, the location of your home (near water, for example) and what you have in your plan (different deductibles/coverages, etc.) if i remember correctly, ours is about $1K a year.

Mine is about $1,000 per year (and seems to go up a bit every year).

When I first closed Oct 07 I was paying around $1700 and for the first year I had to pay monthly myself, after that it is now part of my Mortgagee escrow and I pay the bank monthly.
I recently shopped around and now I am paying $1200

ours is about $1k a year and it comes out of our mortgage (part of the escrow)
