homeowner's insurance in suffolk?!?!
We should be going to closing in July on our house. I started calling insurance companies to get quotes...so far everyone has said they are no longer writing policies in Suffolk County.
I called Geico, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, and Metlife. Anyone have the same problem? Who is everyone else using? The Allstate rep. said that they aren't writing policies anymore because we are considered a hurricane risk. Our house is in Port Jeff Sta which is in the center of the Island. It's not even close to the water.

this is a frequent question. I believe State Farm & Travelers are still writing policies in NY.

We have state farm for homeowners and travelers for flood insurance. Try them, or go to a local agent who will go to the companies for you.

I ended up using a broker to find me the best deal. I did all the calling myself first, but the borker totally got the best price.
I went through the Bennets agency in setauket.

we go thru kemper... but used an agent to get them as well. my family has used the agency for years... mrw on north ocean ave in farmingville.

We have Countrywide and live on the south shore.
Just an FYI for everyone.. Geico homeowners policies are under Travelers.

Sorry.. I should have written NEW. As far as I know they are not writing NEW policies for LI.
(suffolk county).
