Has TTC changed your views on abortion?
I am just curious about this. If you feel uncomfortable answering, then don't, or just answer the poll. I am not trying to start a debate, just wondering if the TTC part has made a difference.
I will go first, I was pro-choice and still am. TTC has not changed that. I am especially pro-choice because it is usually a man politician trying to say otherwise, and honestly they will never know what it is like to grow a child inside of them.

I am a mother and it has not changed my mind. I do not believe life begins at conception and I firmly believe in a woman's right to choose.

Re: Has TTC changed your views on abortion?
No. I am still 100% pro choice, I still hate the idea of people using abortion as their only method of birth control, and I am still extremely grateful to have never been placed in a situation where I would have needed to consider it

Leb...what is your hypothesis? Just curious, What makes u think these boards would change an individuals' perspective on this? Seeing so many women struggle ttc might make someone feel more against abortion????

Re: Has TTC changed your views on abortion?
I was strongly pro-life before and still am. I think TTC helped me to solidify my thoughts/feelings that life truly is a miracle.

Re: Has TTC changed your views on abortion?
I dunno. I am pro-choice for the most part although I don't think I could ever have one unless it was an extreme circumstance (ie: rape, incest, etc). I still feel that way although I am not going to lie, it pains me when I hear stuff like my cousin had her FIFTH abortion a few months ago and here I am constantly wishing and praying to get pregnant. So it that sense my views are slightly changed.

This is how I feel, I think I'm pro choice, but reading peoples' stories on her about mc and if, it further cements for me that I could never ever abort.

Re: Has TTC changed your views on abortion?
The question just kind of came to me recently. Like I said I am pro-choice, always have been. But now that I have been TTC for 5 months now I guess when I hear of people getting pregnant SO easily without even wanting the baby it got me thinking further into it.
Obviously I think having a 5th abortion is horrible, and definitely shouldn't be used as a BC method, I guess I was thinking more the straight forward you slipped up and got pregnant and are too young to handle it.
When I was 16 the condom broke and I nearly had a heart attack, I had to pretend to be sick from school and take a cab to planned parenthood for the morning after pill. I was so scared and so upset and I remember thinking if I am pregnant I will definitely get an abortion, at 16 there was no other option because I was young and selfish and could only think as far as getting into trouble with my parents. Thank god I wasn't but I remember the feelings all too well.
As I have gotten older and especially on the TTC journey, I think I think about things lilke that more in depth than at 16, or even 22.
I didn't mean anything negative, I respect everyones opinion, was just curious if the journey changed anyones minds.

I was in between before. I never knew how I felt. I think abortions are only ok in the case of incest, rape, or if they would compromise the mothers health. That's it. I don't believe doing it for any other reason. It's sad that too many people use abortion as a method of birth control.
When I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time at 6 weeks, I just felt how can anyone abort?!? That baby is living even as early as 6 weeks. How could you kill something that already has a heartbeat. It makes me sad. Then I see so many people struggling with fertility issues and it makes me really against abortions. It's really not fair to all those having trouble and would give anything for a child.

Re: Has TTC changed your views on abortion?
Crashing... going through TTC and being pregnant has made me more pro-choice. My baby was very wanted and very planned. (I spent a LOT of time on this board, lol). She isn't even here yet, and I know I'd move heaven and earth for her. DH is thrilled and supportive and generally a great partner.
But it got me thinking. What happens to the women/couples that aren't ready for the tornado that is pregnancy? That don't have the means to support a baby? (And when I say that, I'm not talking about the individuals or couples that have to postpone buying a house or a car; I mean the ones that are barely scraping by on food stamps and can't afford electric). That can't get prenatal care and/or child care? Yes, birth control is necessary if you don't want to get pregnant, but nothing is foolproof. We don't know everyone's situation. We don't know what the future holds for us. We need to leave the option open, even if we don't agree.
{{steps off soap box}} Sorry, carry on.

ITA word for word. Who am I to Judge or tell another person what to do with their body when I don't know their circumstances ?
I personally would not have one , but would never stop a woman for whatever her reasons are . ( I am stepping off the box too now )
