Re: FTM not taking a childbirth class?
I never took a class, but everything worked out fine that day. I just did what the nurses told me to do.

Re: FTM not taking a childbirth class?
i listened to hypnobabies on my own and read online about natural childbirth, etc.
for MONTHS.
when it got down to it... it basically all went out the window. i completely missed the first half of being in labor basically thinking 'this might not be it? is this it? i dont know if this is it.'
and by the time i was like okay holy crap this really IS it... i had a hard time focusing and my midwives were like 'just breathe. HEE HEE HOOO' and that alone was just enough for me to focus on during contractions. focusing on that alone killed most of my even really strong contractions about 90%
29 hours of labor. i went completely med free. and had a big assss baby.
and as far as delivering the baby... there's nothing to it. your body knows what to do. i know that sounds dumb - but its true.

Re: FTM not taking a childbirth class?
Baby #2 on the way and I never took one of those classes. IMO nothing really prepares you. You can take all the classes in the world and still panic and forget to breathe in the moment. The best thing you can do is listen to your body and go with the flow. I did not make one peep except for exhaling when giving birth to my son and I had no training whatsoever. I did however watch real birth videos on youtube.

Re: FTM not taking a childbirth class?
It may be worth looking into what different childbirth education classes offer. They should not only teach lamaze, but role of the labor coach, stages of labor, preparing to go to the hospital, strategies to progress labor, hospital admission and policies, pain management and meds including epidural, c-section, postpartum recovery, and adjustment to parenthood. Also, being in a class with other moms-to-be might answer questions you didn't even think to ask!! You should feel as prepared as possible before, during, and after labor. If you have any more questions, you can call CFA for more info! Childbirth education classes Image Attachment(s):

Re: FTM not taking a childbirth class?
With DD#1 I did not take any childbirth type classes. I did have a breasfeeding class (my friend did it for me) and since I was not planning on taking any classes she suggested watching the video "Laugh & Learn About Childbirth" it was informative on the things that I did not know about. Overall I am glad that I watched it, I should have had DH watch parts of it with me too.
I may rent it from the library again to brush up before #2 comes.

Re: FTM not taking a childbirth class?
Never took a class. When it came time to push the nurse asked if I took a class- I said no. She said- ok here is how you push. And told me in like 2 minutes. And I pushed her out fine.
