Fever. What's your procedure?

Motrin or Tylenol?

After how long do you take them to the dr?

Fever. What's your procedure?

Motrin. And I take to the doctor at first sign of fever. I always want to make sure her ears are clear.

Eta I only give motrin if fever is high or when we had coxsackie bc Motrin kept inflammation down. If it's a low grade fever I believe in the body healing itself. That's why you get a fever bc immune system is working to kill off the virus or bacteria.

Motrin.
Tylenol doesn't do shit for me and never did anything for her either.

I'd say 3 days with a fever before I'd call the ped.

We always use tylenol. Then monitor and take to the doctor if she has any other symptoms.

Motrin during the day. Tylenol at night. Motrin makes my kid hyper do its a no no for us late

A drs visit depends more on the temp with no meds.

Fever. What's your procedure?

Tylenol during the day, motrin at night bc it lasts longer. I only give it if he seems irritated by the fever, or it is high.
I only take him to doc if other symptoms are evident, or it lasts 3 days.

You can alternate both if the fever is bad (they are different kids of drugs, so the "lock-out" period for tylenol can be a good time to dose motrin).

Re: Fever. What's your procedure?

Always Motrin unless over 102, then Tylenol. I always take immediately to ped for fevers bc my kids never run them

Tylenol depending on fever. If over 101 then we alternate between Tylenol and Motrin. Over 101, we go to the ped.

I usually give motrin before her nap and bed to help her sleep and other than that I try to let it be if she doesn't seem to miserable. Usually around 3 days before we go to the ped unless there are other symptoms I'm worried about.

Re: Fever. What's your procedure?

I alternate between Tylenol and Motrin. I take him to the doctor by the next day if the fever hasn't broken on its own - my DS rarely has a fever unless he has an ear infection, so I always err on the side of caution and prefer to have his ears checked.

Re: Fever. What's your procedure?

always motrin. As for ped, depends on how high the fever, does the medicine bring it down and how are they acting- there have been a couple times they had fever and were happy as clams, so we rode it out with no ped intervention

Re: Fever. What's your procedure?

Motrin.
I usually take them to the Dr immediately if it's 101 or higher only because my kids are prone to ear infections and they will spike a fever before they ever complain about their ear.

Re: Fever. What's your procedure?

Motrin.

I take him to the ped just to be safe, usually right away or within a day or so, just to check his ears.

Same here. This has never happened yet but this is what I would do. Unless the fever was dangerously high then I would take them in right away...

Fever. What's your procedure?

Depends age and temp
She's 6 I think since she was 3 or 4 this is my routine
102.0 or below nothing else - I let her cook during the day and give her Tylenol a half hour before bed, knowing it will wear off before she wakes up

102.1-104 (which she's never been 104 except H1N1) I give Tylenol to get her down to 102 if that doesn't keep her down I use Motrin.

Either way 3 days (72hrs from noticing her fever) before I see the doc.

104.0 and up (never happens) or if the 104 won't crack with BOTH Tylenol and Motrin to at LEAST 102 .. then we are in the doc's office waiting.

I generally just let her cook (as I posted a few weeks ago) her fevers generally last one day only. I am a strong believer that your body has a fever to fight infection. It is the natural and strongest way to fight back. Under 102 I am just hindering it's progress of killing whatever infection it is off.

But 3 days is my golden rule (specifically 72hrs)

Re: Fever. What's your procedure?

Motrin right away. DD had a febrile seizure last month (never been so scared in my life) so we need to be super careful with her. Dr said can alternate Motrin and Tylenol if fever does not go down.

Re: Fever. What's your procedure?

I wait until fever is 101 to give treatment and prefer motrin. I will wait 2-3 days unless they are really miserable or in pain. One of the things that helped me is a Dr said: if you give motrin/trylenol and they are still acting really sick or lethargic. They need to be seen. If they are their normal selves after the meds its probably just a virus that needs to run its course.
