Extended BFers

After the 1 year mark, did you still pump at work and give baby your milk? Stop pumping at work and nurse when you are together? If you did the second, what do they drink while you're gone?

I only went until 14.5 months with DD, but once she hit 11.5 months I stopped pumping and transitioned her to milk when I wasn't with her. I hated pumping and it took up SO much time!

I stopped pumping around a year and continued to nurse when we were together. At around 11 months I had daycare start mixing my BM with whole milk little by little increasing the whole milk. By one year she was fully taking whole milk for breakfast and lunch at daycare. We were very lucky, the transition to whole milk was very seamless and she did great.

Stopped bfing totally around 17 months.

I didn't start working until my son was 17 months, so at that point, he'd drink regular milk or water while I was gone for the school day and he'd nurse when I was around. He still nursed throughout at the night at that point. He'd nurse before I left for work and then he'd nurse the second I walked through the door (my parents watched him). And several times throughout- lol. I ended up nursing my son until he was 3.

At 12 months we introduced cows milk (she had a milk allergy as an infant and I cut all diary from my diet), but she was still intolerant so she drank coconut milk until 15 months and then she was fine cows milk. At that point we BFd first thing in the morning, before her nap, before bed, and sometimes in the middle of the night if she woke up. Over the course of the year we dropped the middle of the night, nap time, morning, (in that order) and the last session to go was the bedtime session which stopped at 26 months when I was pregnant with #2.

I'm a SAHM and never pumped...but I think you could stop pumping at work and just nurse when you're together if you want to. I remember reading that your milk gets more nutritious as you cut back sessions, so that your LO still gets all the benefits even though you're cutting back...(that was gist of it anyway).

ETA she also drank water during the day.

I pretty much stopped pumping by a year. My LOs both drank almond milk if I didn't have any BM available.

Next month dd will be 18mos and will transition into the 18mos and up classroom. There are no bottles in that classroom and I only make about 4oz during the day when pumping. So next month I am retiring the pump and when she's at daycare she'll have water or maybe coconut milk. Ped said as long as she nurses 3-5x a day she doesn't need cow milk or a substitute.

I stopped pumping at a year. By that time, he wasn't taking bottles anymore and eating real food, so he only nursed when we were together. He drank milk and water. He also ate yogurt.

I stopped pumping around 17 months. She gets either organic milk or coconut milk. Still nurse 1X/day at 19 months.

I had a hard time getting DS to drink WCM. I started introdcing organic milk on his 1st birthday. I mixed 2 oz in with i his bottle of BM. It took about 4-5 weeks for him to drink a bottle of 100% organic milk. So I was pumping at work until 13 1/2 months so I could get the BM to mix. Now He gets WCM during the day (even if we're together and out he'll get WCM) I only nurse at home in the morning and at night now.

stopped pumping at 14 months. i have a stash that im slowly giving them to last through cold and flu season.
i introduced almond milk. it's quite liberating not having to worry about milk/pumping.

I've been wondering about this too. How to still BF and introduce cow's milk. I pump 3x a day at work. I BF DD in the AM, when I come home and before bed. I'm afraid if I don't pump, I'll lose my supply...

I stopped pumping at 13 mo or so and gave DS the rest of my freezer stash (one feed a day and one cow milk a day) until 15 mo or so. After that I just nursed morning night and naps if I was home. We weaned at 27.5 mo

I only pumped, my preemies couldn't nurse. I pumped for them for 19m. We introduced cows milk at a year adjusted. They got a bottle of fresh or frozen till they were 2.
