Extended BFers or moms that BF till DC self weaned
DS will be one in a few days. Since 11 months he has been on goats milk during the day and nursing AM and PM. The reason for this is that he refused to nurse during the day and he bites, VERY hard when he doesn't want to nurse. About a week and a half ago he got rid of the PM feed (would just bite me). I was fine with just nursing in the AM since that is his best session anyway. Then the last two days he has been refusing that It may be because he has a cold, but his nose isn't stuffy so I don't think that would interfere with BFing. I think he may be cutting some more teeth too. My question is, is he self weaning? Is it too early for that? I was prepared to go on nursing him as long as he wanted it. Also, will I lose my supply since he hasn't nursed the last 2 mornings? I do not want to pump at this point.
If you got through this, Thanks!

Mich i am going thru the SAME THING. Will is TOTALLY weaning. The last 2 days he REFUSED FLAT OUT to go on the breast. When he does, he fuses right off or like you said, BITES
Im just TRYING to take this as best i can. As you know, i have never had a good milk supply so I am just really trying to be ok w/ the fact that we made it almost 10 months.

Honestly, in a way consider yourself lucky beacuse it is so hard to wean them if they are not doing it themselves. I to love nursing and will be heartbroken when I'm finished but...having to deny him the breast is heartbreaking.
Is sounds like he could be self weaning bc around a year is when they say a lot of babies do. I would keep offering the breast and see what happens. I'm sure if he starts taking it again your supply will increase again. He could just be fussy bc he is not feelign well. Good luck MIch!

I would say he's probably self-weaning. Congrats lol! You're lucky, I would just take it as it is, he's getting the goat's milk & food during the day, so I wouldn't worry! Re: the nutrition intake, have you mentioned this to the Ped?
*Just curious as to why you are using the goat's milk with Ezzy? If I'm correct he doesn't have a dairy allergy rt, wondering why you went with goat instead of cow ... sounds funny I know I know goat's milk is very nutritious and the make up is very similiar to bm is this why?

Thanks for the input ladies
Cat, Ezra doesn't have a cow's milk allergy. He is on goat milk because I was raised on it, I believe it has more nutritional value than cows milk (has more calcium, more protein, and it's easier to assimilate the enzymes). I don't know how long we can keep it up though, it's extemely $7 a half gallon
