Re: Experiences that weren't as fun as you thought they'd be

Going on a cruise. I mean it was cool and all but my god are some people fcking disgusting with the amount of food they shovel in. It was kind of gross. I would give it a shot once more though.

Indoor rock climbing. I like it but it is HARD WORK.

Disney World. I had fun with my niece in January but I don't really need to go again until she's tall enough for the bigger rides.

LSD. Had a few good trips but it's a crapshoot, and a bad trip will make you stay away forever. I'm too old for that shit now but back in the day I didn't mind it.

Outdoor music festivals. I don't have the patience anymore. Used to be my thing!

Vegas. I mean yeah it's cool but I'm just not one for extreme gluttony (see my cruise gripe) and pissing away money (like Disney)...had so much more fun when we left Vegas for the Grand Canyon...now THAT'S an experience that was truly amazing!

Driving an ATV thru the forest on the side of a mountain in Costa Rica.

Sounds like fun!

There were small kids with large machetes on the side of the road watching us. And when I say side of the road I mean 6 feet wide dirt path sloped OFF of the side of the mountain. Go a little far to the right and oopseys, there I go barreling to my death!

Snorkeling with sting rays. I was TERRIFIED. I have never been afraid of an animal in my life and I was in an all out panic. I had NO IDEA Id react that way, I was looking forward to it until I got in the water, realized how big and slimy they were and that there were DOZENS of them. Not to mention, those fluckers are stealthy, the kick up the sand on the bottom so you don't know they are coming and then brush up again you. UGH! Awful!

THIS! I love snorkeling, but the sting rays were a bige
NOPE for me. There were so many & they had no problem swimming right under us or folding up & swimming between our legs. Not for me! Chat Icon

And can't those things hurt you? Like aren't they dangerous?
I never understood that. Why do people want to swim with those nasty things?
Didn't the Crocodile Hunter dude die from one of those things?

Yes he did. As a matter of fact, afterwards my ex-boyfriend was like "wow wasn't that awesome?" My exact response was "Awesome?! I was praying to Steve Irwin the entire time!" Supposedly they aren't much of a risk to humans if you dont cause them harm. They were much bigger than i expected though. I imagined these little baby things which they are not. Chat Icon

I really did not enjoy my trip to India. It was probably my worst vacation ever. Whole experience was very disappointing.

Almost every person who is not Indian who I have spoken with about their trip to India said something along those lines to me too.

Hanging out by any body of water (pool, beach, etc.). I dream about relaxing with a book. Reality is me reading 2 pages and then getting bored/antsy, so I end up getting up to go to the bathroom, to get a drink, etc.

Sting Rays killed the Croc Hunter, which is enough to keep me far away from them.

I spent about 50% of the time yelling to my DH "If these things killed Steve Irwin and he KNEW what he was doing, I have no chance out here!!!!" They were WAY WAY WAY bigger than I expected.

Also, there was some smarmy 10 year old british kid who thought it was HYSTERICAL that I was terrified. He came up to me and with his little british accent was all "lady, I held them and wasn't even scared" and I was all, "good for you, kid" but in my head I was all, "i might actually punch a child today" Chat Icon

Also, for the record, our instructions were and I shit you not....shuffle along the bottom so you don't accidentally get impaled by their stinger since they are bottom feeders" and this gem...."also, they may try to eat you, but don't panic, once they realize you're not food, they'll let go"

Omg I remember the "make sure you shuffle!" speech! I've actually been to the Carribbean twice since my stingray experience & shuffled the whole time just in case. Even in a half inch of water. Can't be too careful. I think I'm traumatized Chat Icon

I thought I would love scuba diving...I thought it would be sooooo relaxing swimming & breathing underwater. Luckily I tried it in a pool first lol. I didn't realize how heavy all the equipment was, and it was not easy to breathe at all!! I did one lesson & never went back! I do love snorkeling though.

Re: Experiences that weren't as fun as you thought they'd be

I agree with the highline. Didn't see the big deal but I also only walked part of it.

One event type that I avoid is concerts. They're long, everyone's crammed in, and you have to endure some usually unknown opening act before you even get to the good stuff.

I can only stand in place and dance for so long before I get antsy.

Disney!

Everyone raves about going there but we hated it. The kids hated it. You really have to be a planner or your stuck with hours long waits for rides. We went in June and it was hot as heck...never again. At least not in June.

We had more fun in Wildwood NJ!

--I hate amusement parks. The food is gross, I can't do the rides and just the atmosphere is too much for me. I strangely enjoyed Universal Studios though lol
--Foot/leg massages. My feet are very sensitive and a rough person can be brutally painful if they are not careful. I've had bruises from one woman :/
--house decorating. I'm so scattered with decisions that it overwhelms me more than anything. I can't wait to just make enough extra money to just hire people to do it lol
