Does anyone take an iron supplement?
If so, what do you take?
I was put on an iron supplement yesterday at my 24w appt due to low hemoglobin. I was surprised since it wasn't a concern while I was pregnant with DS (even though my iron tends to be on the low side).

My Dr recommended this one but, gave me a trial of a prescription one once she learned I had a good prescription plan so right now I'm taking Irospan 24/6 and my stomach is really bothering me.

Re: Does anyone take an iron supplement?
my pills tell me NOT to take them with a meal, unless it makes me sick, then to take with a small meal...
it interferes with absorption...
but it made me sick with and without a small meal LOL
so what I do now is I have my breakfast in the morning before I leave (around 6, 6:15) and then 2 hours or so later, I take the pill at work.

well from what I've known and learned about Iron and maximizing the absorption, Vitamin C is the best with it, and Dairy is the worst with it...so maybe have it with oatmeal and raisins and a glass of OJ, or some other fruit and OJ...don't take it with a glass of milk!
