If you take an iron supplement?

Do you take it with your prenatals or do you take one in the morning, one at night?

I just bought the Slow-Fe iron pills as recommended by a friend because (supposedly) they dont cause as much constipation as regular supplements since they are slow release. But I am still scared to take them and screw up my digestive system.

I just really need to do something about the way I've been feeling lately. I cant make it another 8+ weeks ilke this Chat Icon

Re: If you take an iron supplement?

I take them at night with Vitamin C (they help you absorb the iron better) and I take the prenatal in the morning, as per my doctor.

I did the opposite last pregnancy just b/c I couldn't stomach the prenatals in the morning, had to take them before bed...so I took the Slow-Fe pill in the morning with a big glass of OJ as recommended (but NOT the OJ with calcium, that can block the absorption of iron).

Thank you ladies! I think I might try doing the iron in the morning as well since the whole reason I'm anemic is because I cant stomach the prenatals. I tried switching back to the One A Day Prenatals, rather than a prescription (i've tried them all and they all make me sick!).

Re: If you take an iron supplement?

I take my pre-natal and 1 iron pill with lunch. I take another iron pill with dinner. I had to increase the amount of iron I was taking because 1 pill was not enough.
